Found a way to make it work with TSLRCM, M4-78, Coruscant, (Even AspyrPatch, crazy as it may sound). This comment was larger detailing a fix to the mod, but I realised it was completely useless since what I did was the same the Patcher does but right, It is not really a fix. I will try to guide the ones who try to install this mod through the manual installation so you can make it work. I am not good making explanations and it could be tricky for those who aren't familiar with Kotor Tool, TalkEd and editing game files, so if you are not, do this if you really want the mod and under your own responsability, make copies. ========================================================================= --------Easy Part-------- - First, you need TalkEd and Kotor Tool. - Download the mod, extract it and select your language folder, then you only need the "tslpatchdata" folder. - Copy d3_choke.ncs and ip_chokef.tga to the "override" folder located in your game directory. -------Hard and Dangerous - Editing .tlk------- - Then, open TalkEd, select [File] and then [Open] and open the file "append.tlk" in the folder of the mod, then click "Show Interval". - Double click one string and copy its content (Big text box), the same for the next, and save each copy, paste them on a txt, the same with the other, you'll need it. WARNING -- BEFORE EDITING DIALOG.TLK MAKE SURE TO MAKE A COPY, IF YOU REPLACE SOMETHING ELSE OR MESS WITH THE FILE THE MOD OR THE GAME COULD STOP WORKING - Then, select [File] and then [Open] again in TalkEd, go to your game directory, and open "dialog.tlk", right by the "Show Interval" button there are two text boxes and then a gray text that says (NUMBER max.), write that number on both the text boxes and press Show Interval. - Then go to [Tools], and press [New Entry], a window will open, on the checks select only "text appears", leave the rest unchecked or uncheck it if already checked. In the big text box paste the first string you copied from append.tlk (Should be [Force Choke]), press accept and do the same again for the second string (Should be force description). - Before saving, save which numbers the New Entries have, should be below StrRef column. - Then go to [File] and Save (It will take some time, depends on the pc) -------Medium - Editing .2da------- - After that, open Kotor Tool, press the button [2da] above, on the big empty window press [File], then Load 2da v2.b (The first one) and go to tslpatchdata folder of the mod and select spells.2da. Go to the end of the list and the last row which is normally N°282 (It must say Force_Power_Chokef), right click the square on the left of the number, and then Copy Row. AGAIN -- MAKE A COPY OF SPELLS.2DA, IT WILL NOT MAKE YOUR GAME TO NOT WORK, BUT IF YOU MESS WITH THE FILE WRONGLY IT COULD MAKE THE MOD OR SOME FORCE POWERS TO WORK INCORRECTLY - Then press [File] again, first Load 2da v2.b file again, go to your game directory's override, open the spells.2da on that folder and go to the end of the list, you will se that the last row has an Asterisk, click on it and write anything on the first line (can be an a, a number, doesn't matter). - Then press the square again and click Paste row. - Then you'll see that each column has a name, as each row has a number, there is one column for the number of the row, one column for the name (FORCE_POWER_CHOKEF) and then a lot of columns with numbers, the first two columns are the ones you need to edit (One column is called name and the other spelldesc), the first one replace the number with the one you saved from TalkEd, the First Entry, the one that said [Force Choke]. The second column replace the number with the second number you saved, the one with the description. - Then press [File], Save, select the override folder and it will ask you to overwrite, do it, and it will be installed. ========================================================================= I am not good making guides, so I hope this will work, if Kotor Tool doesn't detect your game, look for a guide how to fix it, it has to do with the registry. Thank you for reading.
PS: I have no idea if this method works for the other mod (Lightning variant, I tried with TSLPatcher and also doesnt work) but it should, as long as you dont overwrite nothing that already exists, it SHOULD work, also with most of the mods that have this problem.
Really? It should work with TSLRCM 1.8.5. Thanks for telling me, I will test this and will get back with you. I had problems with Force Lightning Anyone, but not Force Choke Anyone.
If it doesn't work for you try this mod out: https://www.nexusmods.com/kotor2/mods/901
It is exactly the same as these mods except instead of a force power it is a armband. It includes Force Choke, Spontaneous Combustion, and Force Lightning. So it is a backup or alternate method of killing NPCs that you don't like. Hopefully it works for you.
No problem! I know getting mods to work with TSLRCM 1.8.5 is a hassle. I thought it would be compatible because it is installed with TSL Patcher. But maybe since it edits the Dialog.tlk file that is why it is incompatible. I will test this soon.
Sorry for the late reply. Still trying to figure out what is causing the problem. It is a slow and tedious process. I am looking at what TSLRCM 1.8.5 modifies and trying to see what the conflict is with the Force Choke Anyone and the Force Lightning Anyone mod. I am halfway done looking at what could be the problem. Plus I don't work all day on this, it is just a hobby. So it will take some time. I will post here when I found the solution. :)
Yes, sorry for the late reply. College is getting in the way and I hardly have free time anymore. But this mod is incompatible with TSLCRM 1.8.5. I am still trying to find a way to make it compatible but all of my solutions have failed at the moment. So it might take a while for me to fix this issue. I just don't know what is wrong. It should theoretically work, but something in the Spells.2da file is making it not load properly, strange.
