    Thanks for this. Great work!
For some reason I have to completely turn off the bloom effect though. It creates intense blue lights that get more and more intense and wont go away... not sure why though because the don't show in your screenshots.

That is a very strange issue indeed, I’m sorry you’re having that problem. Do you think you could post a screenshot of what you mean? I will try to solve it. Also make sure you have the correct version of ReShade installed. Unfortunately, the way they update their software makes it so that old presets aren’t compatible with the new versions.

I figured it out. Its because I was using the latest version of reshade… thought maybe you meant 4.3 or newer. I ended up finding 4.3 through a google search and now it works as intended. Definitely sucks they don't put the previous versions on the site like ENB. Anyways, great work! This modernizes the game more than any other mod I use... and I pretty much use them all lol.

I'm glad that solution worked for you! Enjoy your game. Making this a sticky so people can see the importance of using the right version of ReShade.

As on April 21 2021 i installed this mod replaced the shaders in the folder with the https://github.com/crosire/reshade-shaders/commits/master one still get the same affect i found out that having PPFX SSDO enabled in the Reshade settings in game causes a, no idea how to fix this.

Update: I tried a couple work arounds/fixes and the best solution i could come up with is:
--------Update Reshade to the latest 4.9.1 version install all of the shaders it tells you.

--------KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE 4.9.1 RESHADE VERSION--------

----------PPFX SSDO which is used for the enhanced shadow effect is still broken working on a work around/fix.

----------However there is no black effect in game that makes it so you cannot see anything, you can see but once you enter you're inventory/main menu/talking to characters or going into a console of any kind the black screen appears forcing you to turn it off until you are done with what you are doing.

----------In the latest version there are way less problems, the biggest problem is that the BloomAndLensFlare option is now broken and now results a blue line see through line on the screen PPFX Godrays is the closest option to BloomAndLensFlare.

                              --------EASIER NAVIGATION----------

--------With the latest version it supports presets and you don't have to uninstall Reshade and reinstall it to turn of the preset.

*Now you can switch between the preset and default.

[KOWN PROBLEMS BY THE 4.3.0 VERSION OF RESHADE]

---------------One thing i noticed is that with the 4.3.0 version the creator advertised the PPFX SSDO option makes it so in game there is a weird black effect that's constantly present like fog as you move or do anything the surrounding areas disappear into this black like fog.

---------------With the latest version of reshade you can see everything while having PPFX SSDO enabled but as soon as you talk to someone/go into a console/menu you can barely see the screen so unfortunately you have to disable it then re enable it once you're finished.

As soon as i find a fix to either of these problems i will post it here for now this is the best work around.

Update: I fixed the issues and i don't know how i did it i fixed it on accident while playing kotor 2, as soon as i figure out what i did to fix this i will post the guide on how to fix it here :)

ATTENTION: I FIGURED OUT HOW TO FIX THIS PRESET:

    1. Go to https://www.mediafire.com/folder/8ar1jhh1809cl/ReShade_Repository and download 4.3.0 AND 4.9.1

    2. Copy-paste the Rebirth preset file into your KotOR II folder

    3. Install 4.3.0 on KotOR II, using OpenGL. When prompted to select a preset, select Rebirth and download all the effects that Reshade automatically selects. This is because 4.9.1 doesn't download all the shaders that Rebirth needs, but 4.3.0 does.

    4. Run it on your game. Switch to the Rebirth preset in the Reshade menu in game, which by default is the "Home" button on your keyboard. DO NOT BE AFRAID OF THE BLACK SCREEN, just press the "Active to top" button in the Reshade menu, and close the game without altering or turning off any of the Reshade settings.

    5. Go back to your downloads folder, and run the 4.9.1 installer. When you select KotOR II in the installer, it will detect an existing installation of Reshade. Select the option to update Reshade, and install as normal.

    6. Run KotOR II. You will see that the ambient occlusion is being weird, this is because Reshade's depth buffers are on strange settings by default. To solve this, click the "Edit global preprocessor definitions" button. You will see a couple variables:

-Reshade Depth Linearisation Far Plane: You don't need to mess with this, just keep it at 1000.
-Reshade Depth Input Is Upside Down: Set to 0.
-Reshade Depth Input Is Reversed: Set to 0.
-Reshade Depth Input Is Logarithmic: Set to 0.

    7. Lastly, turn off Emphasize. I'm very tired of experimenting with settings, I'm just happy to have this preset 95% working. Emphasize in its current state makes the screen almost entirely monochrome, which can probably be fixed easily, but I'm too tired.

OPTIONAL: Tweak the PPFX SSDO settings to be more subtle. I personally dislike the very high level of AO by default, but this is easy to fix. I recommend setting the intensity to 2, and the amount to 1, and not messing around with any other settings.

Notes: I don't know about Nvidia drivers, but from what I'm seeing Reshade and most AMD drivers do not play nice together. There may be newer ones that work fine, but this one from 2017 does: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-17-11-4

Doesn't seem to work anymore. Literally no effects change in the slightest, even when toggling on and off or reloading

I am having problems with multiple settings causing a black screen that does not go away. I followed installation instructions to the note, using reshade 4.3.0 and selected OpenGL. I have also attempted all relevant fixes in this comment section and still the problems persist. Anyone got suggestions?

    Hey,

Just wondering if this is getting updated? I downloaded ReShade 4.3.0, even checked out the Shader repo from Nov 2019 as suggested and still only black screen. I think at the moment that the reason is the DPX.fx but cannot really tell why.

Actually no... Seems that one needs to disable pretty much everything to not get the black screen... How unfortunate :(

Huh, that's kind of weird. I just tried a fresh install of KOTOR 2, installed ReShade 4.3.0 with OpenGL and then re downloaded and used the ReShade Nov 8, 2019 Shaders and Textures Commit (https://github.com/crosire/reshade-shaders/commits/master) with no issues (making sure to delete the pre downloaded ones first).

Even when using the originally downloaded Shaders I found that only PPFX_SSDO.fx had caused the issue with the black screen. DPX.fx didn't seem to cause any issues. Maybe something went wrong with your install? I've noticed (and you probably already know this) that if I play with any of the ReShade settings it'll save it on the current Preset being used. So maybe also try a fresh download of the KOTOR II Reshade Preset?

Greetings! I have downloaded and installed Reshade 4.3.0 as suggested and used the Open GL for rendering. Unfourtanatley on certain settings like SAAO have caused my screen to turn black. The versions of K1 and 2 I have are the Steam versions. My specs are nvidia gtx 1060 i7 cpu and 8 gb of ram(plz don't judge) Was there something that i did wrong? I really want to play the game in this amazing reshade. Any help would be appreciated greatly

I had the black screen issue as well. For me the fix was reverting to an earlier version of the PPFX_SSDO.fx shader. The way I did it was to go to the commits GitHub page for Reshade.
https://github.com/crosire/reshade-shaders/commits/master and go down to the last Commit that worked for me which is on Nov 8, 2019 (Will have to click the "Older" option).

Click the <> button for Nov 8, 2019 which will take you to the repository at that time in history, and click the green "Clone or Download" button. Download the zip.

Now simply replace all the Shaders in the Star Wars - KotOR2\reshade-shaders\Shaders folder with the ones you just downloaded. I replaced all of them, in case of any other hidden issues.

As a side note, I turned off the "Force Speed Effects" in the in-game graphics menu as it didn't seem to play nice with Reshade.

I also wanted to take the time to say thank you crimsontwilightzero! I probably would have never figured out what was going on and would have just uninstalled reshade were it not for your post. Really glad that you chimed in about this with the fix, people like you are literally a god send <3

Reshade should not be making your game crash unless you installed it incorrectly. In which case, how could you? It comes with an installer. There is likely an underlying issue going on.

or the simple fact these games were made in 2004/3 and the engine its based on is even older , these barely run at the best of times some people just flat out can't run them on their system mind you yes the steam versions work way better then the old cd copies but nothing is perfect for everyone.

Name checks out. Just kidding. Reshade should in NO way affect your sound. There's definitely something else at play causing that.

It's interesting, I'm having the same black screen problem as him with the AO setting on. I thought it was interesting cause I and only like 1 other person have a specific problem with a certain Fallout New Vegas reshade too. I'm guessing it's just some sort of configuration causing problems. The settings look fantastic without AO but I really wish I could make it work.
