can this mod be installed on a never been played before, unmodded version of the game? or do I need to play up to Dantooine first?

Sure. As long as you install it before leaving Dantooine you will get its full potential. That can be before starting the game or anywhere on Taris or Dantooine. That doesn't matter.

What are the older files to delete because I can't find the original mod so idk what files to get rid of in order to use the new mod.

Roughly speaking it's all textures with "sky" in their name. They usually come in packs of five, so e.g. LTA_sky0001.tga to LTA_sky0005.tga.
      Apart from that there's also m33ab.are, m36ac.are, two LTA_town textures and LKA_flatPoly.tga.

Could you post a screenshot of the issue? And are you sure this issue is related to this mod?
I cannot see any transparent doors in Dreshdae on my end and right now I have no idea why they would be either since this mod doesn't touch them.

    Hello!

I've only two areas of upper Taris and I love this mod already. The boost in atmosphere is amazing. Thank you for this.

There seems to be a bug though and I don't know what went wrong. The southern upper city looks great, no complaints there. The northern upper city though.. well, see for yourself.

I don't know if buildings are missing or if the floating tops are extra. :P Exclusive lofts for the Tarisian elite perhaps?

I tried replacing the files in my override folder, to no avail. Any idea what might be the cause for this? I'm using a Ryzen 5 2400G with processor graphics (AMD). More than enough for this old game, mods or no mods.

I can't see your screenshots but it sounds like a known bug that I have a preliminary fix for that is still being tested but should fix your issue. You can download the fix here: https://deadlystream.com/topic/3808-skinhigh-quality-skyboxes-ii/?do=findComment&comment=79417

Please let me know if it works so that I can update the full mod to include it. Thanks!

Should have just posted the links instead of trying "insert image". Oh well, let's try again.

      https://s12.directupload.net/images/210115/2aowz8og.jpg

I tried something different. Uninstalled all texture related mods and now I'm solely using your skyboxes in tandem with ShiningRedHd's ultimate texture mods. Makes the game look amazing, but the problem remains. If it's just northern upper Taris though, I can probably live with it. But maybe we can figure this out.

Edit: I don't know why, but somehow the sky fixed itself. No idea what did the trick. All I did was fixing the "invisible grass" glitch. I'll stop wondering and just enjoy the Taris skyline.

So the fix I posted did not work? Or didn't you try that?

I didn't try it, I chose to ignore it for now and see if other problems appear. And then it magically fixed itself.

Thank you very much for the link though. If it actually does happen again, I will check the solution you provided.

For some reason this mod does not work for me. I keep getting wierd colored pixels/squares in the sky in every planet and does not seem HD at all.

I also installed shining's HQ textures which also uses this skybox, thought the problem might be there, so did a clean install with only this mod (and skip endar spire ofc ;)) but the problem the problem is still there.
I'm on a crappy laptop with intel HD 4000 GPU I also thought this might be the issue but it seems to run fine even with high settings.

The only place the mod seems to work perfectly is on Masterzionis' Yavin 4 mod with this mods add-on.

I'm really at a loss with this, any help appriciated.

That is a really strange behavior. I am pretty sure that it is related to your GPU not liking the texture size of this mod since Kotor is known to cause issues on laptop and especially intel GPUs.
Nevertheless, could you post a screenshot of what it looks like? From your description alone I have no idea what is causing this.

      Hey,

      Two shots from Taris:
      https://i.imgur.com/AY8CzmC.jpg
      https://i.imgur.com/xsKqXzl.jpg

This is a fresh install with only this mod, just to be sure there isnt a conflict, because usually I play with 20 mods installed :)

I was sort of blaming it on the GPU as well to be fair, until I went to Yavin 4 planet mod with HQ Skyboxes add-on. There for some reason it looks awesome.
I would love to make this work because it is an awsome mod and I do like Shining's HQ planets which is dependent on this mod, I mean its not so bad on taris, but once you get to Dantooine or Tatooine it gets a bit more immersion breaking.....

Thanks. I've never seen that issue ever but I would guess that it's either your GPU doing weird Kotor/intel stuff which has never been very consistent or maybe it's an issue where the VRAM is not sufficient in these areas, maybe because Yavin needs less VRAM for other stuff it works there.
I'll send you something to test that hypothesis but I don't know if I'll get to it today.

Sorry that it took so long. Could you put the files from this archive into your Override and see if the issue persists?

No worries, thanks for the reply.

Yup seems like the issue was my crappy old intel not being able to handle texture size.
Pixels are still there, blended in, so you would not notice them.
Anyway did the playthourgh looking at the sky little as possible lol.

KOTOR 2 has the same issue though I'll understand if there is no easy fix for this. Just have to do without it.

      Happy holidays :)

So did those lower resolution files from my last post fix the issue or not? I'm not quite sure if they did from your post.

      Hi kexikus,
I have the same problem of ikeman78. I have intel integrated graphic card and in Taris i got the strange colored pixels glitch.
The problem seems resolved with the file you provided. Can you put the files in the dowload section?
I also want to share the solution HERE if it's ok for you.
thank you a lot, your mod is amazing!

The file I provided was just a test to see if it helps and will thus only work on Taris. But now that I know it does, I will add a low resolution version of the entire mod for use with older/weaker GPUs.

Feel free to mention that in the guide once it's out.

      Hi Kexikus,
      happy new year!
I'm playing Kotor 1 from the beginning i will give you feedback if i will find other skybox glitches.
To resolve them, i should intall only the texture, as the taris skybox file, that you provided, before i load the module?
      Thankyou again ;)

Once I finish the low resolution version you can just install it on top of the old/full version and it should fix the issue just as it did on Taris.

The new 1k versions of all files are up now and should hopefully fix these issues. Let me know if there are still problems.

I encountered one issue with this, but also have found a fix, just in case anyone else runs into the issue.

I'm using a MacOS, so this may naturally cause more issues than if I were using any other OS. That being said, when I moved everything over to the override, it would cause crashes in certain points of the game But I found, whenever I move only the .tpc files over, the new skyboxes are present (and stunning I might add) and the crashes do not happen (at least in all previous spots I've tested out). I'm not sure how this works in terms of coding, but if anyone else encounters this issue, try moving only the .tpc files over and forget everything else.

I'll do a full playthrough and update this comment if I notice any other issues related to this mod (or the system when running it).

Glad to hear you got it to work.
I would recommend only doing that if it is really necessary though.
Without the mdl and mdx files you will get ugly seams in the skybox and without the are files they will blend much worse with the ingame terrain.
