Unfortunately this method does not work with the new Barber feature. If you install the mod and change the version to 1.2 manually, the beard and hairstyle won't show. Here's to hoping we get an actual update to the mod.
Can you change the gold texture to iron color like this mod, and I would like to know which armor you have modified? It would be even better if you could officially release your mod.

Open "mod.manifest"
Change "<kcd_version>1.1.*</kcd_version>" to "<kcd_version>1.2.*</kcd_version>"
Save et voila!
