ClothingComponents.xml is the file that changes all of this. Simply learn how to edit them, and properly recreate them into a .pak file. I believe there is a mod on here to guide your journey on doing that. Haven't removed the cloth, but I did replace the Brunswick helmet with a closed version of the Italian Basinet.
To find what item you want to edit, use one of the item ID mods on here. It has a .html file that makes locating certain items a lot easier by searching the file by its item name.
To remove a certain part of an armor, in the features section where it will say "Fine_Black_Smooth" or whatever, simply replace that with "NoDraw".
I've had a look myself and the helmet is only missing plate covering the very top, so it's just a question of when/if someone can model that and if it's possible to pack it for the game to read. I've tried myself but was unsuccessful and was unable to receive assistance on the modding discord.
I wonder if it is like this because technically the Brunswick's coif <the Helmet on it anyway> would be sticking through that part, and thats why you see the "hump" with the cloth on there
Modding question: when you convert the dds files into a single TIF.file and open that TIF.file in an photo editing software(photoshop etc). The colours always seems to be negative or so.. I cant figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any tips on modding texture?

Hope this helped someone
Is it possible to remove the scarf thing as well, or recolor it? Black pref.
Edit: I see it's not possible to remove it (after reading other comments). Still very much +1 for a recolor, if possible.
