What on earth are both of you on about? lol Swim with heavy armor/plate/chainmail on, you die and sink. Swim with light fabric clothing, you can swim. Easy solution. Besides, if you play stealth, you're likely wearing clothing you can realistically swim in anyway. And yes, people have been able to swim for a very long time. "Swimming has been recorded since prehistoric times; the earliest recording of swimming dates back to Stone Agepaintings from around 7,000 years ago. In 1578, Nikolaus Wynmann, a German professor of languages, wrote the first swimming book."
Definitely, if i take all my armor off i should be able to atleast doggie paddle across a pond, we already saw henry do it. without the arrow in the back he wouldve been fine, maybe just make it drain stamina.
Yeah, totally pisses me off that after that "I just learned how to swim now" cutscene Henry goes back to being a puss who can't dogpaddle across the lake. Like, dude, you did it with a f*cking arrow sticking out of your back, the hard sh*t is already done, just lose your boots and f*cking swiiiiiiiiiiiim.
what all of you apologists are failing to recognize is that Henry had NOTHING on him when he "swam" across the pond. Like legit 0 carry weight.
you can tell me you wear a stealth outfit of all cloth all you want, but I know you have a full set of iron armor in your inventory and preset as an outfit. Where are you putting this armor, good sir/madam, when you decide to go for a dip? on the bank of the river? Better drop it first for immersion sake. Hopefully an opportunistic NPC doesn't walk by and see you 20,000 of metal on the floor. That'd be a f*#@ing fortune back in the day.
use your heads.
Having been to State Championships in highschool as a swimmer, and having done 'clothes-on-training' even a GOOD swimmer wearing full clothes will quickly tire themselves out. Shoes and shirts much more than pants/shorts.
Stop being clowns. Go jump in a pool with a hoodie and sweatpants on. LMK how that goes. (or don't since you'll probably drown, idiot)
matter of fact-- go into your bathroom. Fill a tub or turn the shower on. Soak 2 towels in water (fully soak them). Drape one around your shoulders, and hold the other out in front of you with arms bent 45 degrees (at the elbow) lmk how long you can stand like that.
water soaked fabric weighs A LOT more than you all think.
This all said, if you ever fall into water while clothed, and are not a great swimmer, spend the first few seconds taking your shoes off rather than panicking. Your shoes will fill with water and end up acting like weights. Shirt and pants are not such a dire risk, but trust me. Shoes are going to sink the average joe. The amount of core strength required to "kick" your legs with waterlogged shoes is no joke. Shoes act like bladders. They're meant to keep water OUT of your foot for the most part. As soon as water goes IN-- it's stuck in there. You're now wearing leather/rubber/polyester bags of water[read:weight{{read dead weight}}] on your feet.
Feel free to google trench foot regarding water inside a boot/shoe being problematic. Furthermore, look up "what to do if I fall in water fully clothed"
being able to swim was very rare. Many sailors couldn't even swim. That is well documented (google). Benjamin Franklin (long past middle ages) was kind of famous for being able to swim very well and doing it for sports, and teaching it to others. He is less famous for that than other things, but he pushed hard to get swimming in more people basic education because it wasn't.
and yes, plate armor wasn't his thing. Btw horses can swim, there is no real life lore excuse.
Anyway you could make a merge with No Mud Slow Down? It modifies the same file. https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance2/mods/1072?tab=posts&BH=0
