Great mod! Would you be willing to add optional files wich change only one thing to 1st person? I would like to keep the animations on actions that you do only once in a time like cooking or using drying rack and remove them only for repetitive tasks like butchering or picking up herbs
The issue with doing that is that the changes are induced through a single file, so by combining multiple different optional files you will only end up with the last loaded file's changes.
I will look into writing up an article on how to change the options up for a more customizable usage.
(Hopefully in the future this file may end up being PTF'able like many of the other files so we can change individual things without overwriting the rest of the file.
I managed to edit the mod myself. I made it so only picking up herbs and butchering are in 1st person and also removed the fade out for butchering animals - it looks clunky when suddenly carcass texture turns into butchered one, but I find long fadeout animation more annoying. Do you know perhaps how to make it quicker?
I also tried to turn the mod into PTF version and I see why probably you didn't do it already - PTFs work with modded text files that swap one property for another, not when they delete something entirely.
In adb files I've tried to replace <?Fragment> brackets and stuff inside them for this: <Fragment> <AnimLayer> <Blend/> <Animation/> </AnimLayer> </Fragment> And it does the same thing as your version, so it removes cutscene camera properly, but it still doesn't work as PTF
It seems after the most recent update I can't turn my head left on my horse more than like 45 degrees, so I can only look over my right shoulder to see behind me now.
Does the latest version (1.2) work properly for mercy kills? Prior to this version, the mod was split into two files (one with all animations in fpp except for mercy kills, and the other with all animations). I have a bug where performing a mercy kill using hands (breaking the neck?) causes the camera to get stuck inside Henry’s head and is probably rotated by 90 degrees.
I don't know why but your comment gave me an idea to be able to test this. I wasn't able to test the mercy kills before because of how rarely happens in combat compared to KCD1 (like I genuinely haven't seen it in the 100 hours that I have played).
Give me a bit of time to test this and I will get back to you.
With my playstyle, mercy kills happen quite often... I'm still on the first map, my Henry is fairly experienced, and I'm fighting multiple armed bandits with my "bare" hands (for fun and a challenge, because it's too easy with weapons). I was also doing it this way in KCD 1.
Does this remove black screen fade when picking herbs? If so, mine still has it in there. Otherwise disregard if its supposed to have it. Looking to remove it since I pick alot of herbs loll.
Found it - the immersive faster actions mod is incompatible and adds the black screen. Thanks for your response though! Gotta figure out how to make it compatible haha.
Yeah I bet it overwrites the same .dba file that I removed the black screen with. Would have to compare the changes between the two mods to the file and combine them.
Because it saves them time. By forcing certain animations in third person, they use blocking or framing to hide the parts where Henry's hands don't properly match what he's actually doing. Butchering and herb gathering are big ones. /notice how in most video games, when a character gives someone an item, it happens just off screen (witcher 3 is famous for this). Same reason.

Will try again after the mod tools come out.
I will bring back the previous version. And leave the new one up as an alternative for those that have the issue.
While I am still confused why it is working for some and not others (myself included) I am glad it is working.
If I may ask, what mods are you running?
I NEVER did a mercy kill in 150h of playing ahahah ......................... OMG
What other mods are you using?
Butchering and herb gathering are big ones.
