This mod is nice while it rain, but it' ll add permanent terrain modification. The places of the new puddle are darker than the normal terrain even after long period of drying. And I personally can' t take my eyes of these darker parts everywhere. In fact everything that would be " wet" while raining will be considerer as wet. So when the moon will light up a hill on the horizon, it will glow like it is covert by vaseline. Man you should tell that kind of info in the description, now I messed up with my sys_Spec and I can' t revert back because I didnt back up. whatever.
This mod adds no permanent effect on anything. If its not raining everything will be as it would wihtout mod. There might be something already tweaked in your setting that this mod has nothing to do with.
Hey guys any way to fix the random puddles with Optimized Graphic Presets , for some reason they don't appear and spread, when it rains, i have More Puddles mod but it dose not seem to work ether with Optimized Graphic Presets , anyone found a fix?
Found a fix : copy the inside of sys_spec_GameEffects.cfg to Data/zzz_optimized_graphic_presets/Config/CVarGroups/sys_spec_ogp_weather_vanilla.cfg and or sys_spec_ogp_weather.cfg (the problem was the line wh_env_PuddleCreationDelay)
it does not matter, really, if an update changes that file, as the new file is in ..\Data\patch folder and so the mod will lose that update (and may conflict). Sadly, every new update mods must be revised, and modified if needed, even if they are in .pak mod folder ot not.
if that is thrue then it's best than the changing the file, as it is not necessary to be modified after patches.
Well, the modder said that you needed to change the original sys_spec_GameEffects.cfg file by it's own and then add "r_RainMaxViewDist_Deferred=10000" to the user.cfg.
So, in case the lines you mention (I suppose are the changed from original in "sys_spec_GameEffects.cfg", but I don't remember now) are working if added directly in user.cfg, then you should also add that one.
Hi... can someone tell me what the difference between the two files exactly is (Version 1 vs 1.1)? And my second question: with which version do puddles dry faster? I feel like some puddles never dry out completely?
1.1 The dry up speed is left same as original mod but fills in faster. Some puddles are there forever. its kind of part of terrain texture i think. Sry for very late reply.
I'm so glad you made this! It looks so great! Now if I could only fix the annoying minecraft rain glitch the game would be perfect! I can't disable the rain because that also disables the puddles and reflections, which IMO is the best part. Hopefully they fix it soon!
Hey, I've got a bit of an update on the rain issue. Since I've updated to 1.3 the minecraft rain has resolved itself, but I've noticed that now, while the puddles are still growing in size and staying around like they normally should, they're no longer showing up far away anymore. I can see them appearing in front of me as I ride my horse, because the draw distance on them are so bad. Pic: https://imgur.com/a/xkVUN
Since the update, I've changed all of the files back to your modded ones, and added the line to my .cfg file again. I've even added draw distance console commands to my cfg to over ride the glitch causing the advanced graphics sliders to continually default back to their lowest settings. The grass and trees are still appearing in the distance, but I can't figure out which one should cause the puddles to show up in the distance. I have r_RainMaxViewDist_Deferred = 10000 added to my cfg to clarify
OK so first thing you can try your self faster is to try and paste this "r_RainMaxViewDist_Deferred " ingame console open it with " ~' on keyboard. The console should show u the number at witch this setting is set. You can then add this again but experiment with numbers "r_RainMaxViewDist_Deferred= your number" the effects should be visible instant, the problem might be somewhere else though. I will try it ASAP.

r_RainOccluderSizeTreshold=10
wh_env_PuddleCreationDelay = 50
wh_env_PuddleCreationSpeed = 0.008
wh_env_PuddleDryupDelay = 100
wh_env_PuddleDryupSpeed = 0.001
wh_env_puddleMaskMin = 0
wh_env_DirtCreationSpeed = 0.01
wh_env_DirtDryupSpeed = 0.008
wh_env_RainDiffuseDarkening = 0.2
