Big Update to Mod: (Thanks to everyone for suggestions)
-Vastly Improved Performance (1-2 FPS hit though my testing) -UI Mask means no more blurring of Compass or static HUD Items -Various optimizations and improvements -Much easier install - Extract to folder and Done
I downloaded it by vortex and installed but it doesn't work. I don't really know how to install it in any other way. Can you help me with that? Edit: I installed reshade. Copied the shade and texture files destination but it gave me some errors.
Does this mod add a box where the compass is to not blur that area? Maybe that is related to the UI mask? Also, I noticed when the ReShade is toggled the game's FPS counter is blurred.
That is strange. If you look at your dxgi.ini file (in the folder where KingdomCome.exe is located)- (open with notepad) it should contain the following line: "KeyMenu=113,0,1"
Are you sure reshade loaded correctly as well? It should give confirmation on the top left of the screen. Are you running the latest version of reshade 3.1.1.243?
Since you did an external install the dxgi.ini will also need the following line: Replace the line "PreprocessorDefinitions=" with the following line in the dxgi.ini under "[GENERAL]":
I also had the same problems as you, having never tried ReShade for this game. I think the Installation Instructions need to be updated and clarified. Basically, put all the mod files in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Bin\Win64" folder. However, downloading and running ReShade also adds other stuff not in this mod, like the Textures folder.
I would say something like: 1. Download and run ReShade 2. Download this mod and overwrite the ReShade files in your game directory with the mod's files
It definitely makes more sense now. I think an even easier installation would be to do it how this mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/279) does it - include all ReShade files and everything ready to go so all the user does is unzip to base game folder and voila!
Great, thanks! I switched back to using this mod vs. OVNI's similar mod. I think yours handles distant LOD better but his does closer LOD a little better.
This is probably just the depth haze filter and you should add a UI mask since the compass is blurred now. I wish people would stop uploading 50 billion reshade presets ... it's literally ticking some checkboxes and TADA you made a "mod".
Its not depth haze. Depth Haze is ugly IMO. Shaders used as per description: AdaptiveSharpen, DOF Levels, LiftGammaGain, LightDoF, LumaSharpen. You may also notice that DOF and LightDOF dont work with KCD straight out the bat. Hence the preprocessor definitions I added to make it work. Very few have done this. Granted it didnt take forever but I thought I would share something that I made for myself.
The UI mask is a good idea though. Will look into it :)
PS. dont discourage modding, it destroys the community (even if its s#*!- thats why endorsements are there)
Another note, it seems to have made my menu text blurry and my in-game compass not as sharp. The letters for the objectives are harder to read now, but the distance LOD is defs much cleaner.
But yours isn't the only mod I installed so it could be another one...
New version now has a UI Mask and other improvements that should solve that issue :) - To update just follow the new (much easier) instructions in the description.
Looks great. Very similar effect to mine but you managed to isolate depth in a very clever way which is more optimized :) - you taught me a new method.
I have to say I like OVNI's version better, though your mod handles distant LOD better. Maybe you guys can team up and make a super awesome LOD fix mod? :)
Just uploaded a brand new improved version. Lots of improvements. I am open to OVNI using my work to improve upon. We do, however, have fairly different implementations. My new version not only focuses on LOD but also vegetation. You should see better quality foliage in short-medium distances on mine as well.
If OVNI is open to it we can share some ideas/implementations
The 3 DoF shaders you're using don't have any effect on my game. So all I'm getting is a gaussian blur offset by two sharpen filters. Seems really un-optimized to me, did you just click on a bunch of shaders trying to get the desired effect? I mean, I can see the difference and the effect you're going for, but you might as well just use a FXAA filter and save on performance.
I tried FXAA but it does not give the desired effect. Texture sharpness is lost with closer objects and it does not give the same effect. You will notice that if you assign a key to the 3 DoF shaders mentioned and turn that on and off there is a difference, especially with the foilage. Granted they do work against each other to some extent but the end result is what I am going for. These shaders only decrease about 1-2FPS versus FXAA anyways. I went in with an open mind but unfortunately i cant reproduce this effect with FXAA.
That's strange, I get no change in visual with or without any of the DoF shaders selected. I assumed they were broken for this game because all the other reshade's with DoF use matsoDoF, which is the only one that has any effect for me.
Hmmm. Might be something I missed on the install instructions. Could you do me a favor and check under the settings tab of the Reshade menu by Preprocessor Definitions and enter the following:

I'd suggest to utilize Gauss blur even more to eliminate all unnatural edges overall but everyone can tweak that to their liking.

Does this need any updates for the new patch?
"KeyMenu=113,0,1"
Could you confirm that yours says the same?
Replace the line "PreprocessorDefinitions=" with the following line in the dxgi.ini under "[GENERAL]":
PreprocessorDefinitions=RESHADE_DEPTH_LINEARIZATION_FAR_PLANE=1000.0,RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_UPSIDE_DOWN=0,RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED=1,RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_LOGARITHMIC=0
Please check under the settings tab of the Reshade menu by Preprocessor Definitions, it should say the following:
RESHADE_DEPTH_LINEARIZATION_FAR_PLANE=1000.0
RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_UPSIDE_DOWN=0
RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED=1
RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_LOGARITHMIC=0
This is a workaround to get the DOF to work. KCD has it reversed and reshade needs a value for far distances

If this works for you I will need to update install instructions on the Alternate section of my description
