As I have long since stopped playing KC:D, the mod was not being updated regularly. Any user wishing to make it work on their current game may look into the files and simply add the necessary lines to the relevant item lists in their game. It's not difficult. As I wrote in the description, my additions are at the end of each file.
If I come back to the game (which is certainly possible as I haven't finished it), perhaps there will be an "official" update.
For anyone that's still trying to get it to work to this day. There's a post (dated January 14th/April 20th, 2020) from Elfranger78 (& GrosserKibbles2) which describes how to do it. This method is currently still functional (game version 1.9.6). I'll post the method below, but again, credits to the people who figured a way around this.
Method: 1) Download the file from ->> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gJB7LjKqG_qJ_2AbWHKgIkmxH_r7VVrE/view?usp=sharing (From Aranis777) 2) Unzip the file and dump the whole folder in the KCD mods folder.(If you do not have a mods folder just create one and named as "mods".) 3) You have to install a mod called "cheat mod". The devconsole is not enough, you explicitly need the cheat mod. Reference to cheat mod -> https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/106?tab=description 4) Move the items.txt & sword.txt files to your main KCD Data folder.
It should be all working now, in console type - exec items.txt or exec sword.txt
Also for those whom wish to use the "Holy Sepulchre Gear - PTF Edition" mod, it conflicts with black armor mod. So, pick your poison I'd say. Enjoy :)
Just want to elaborate on this, as i did get it to work as well today.
Method: 1) Download the file from ->> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gJB7LjKqG_qJ_2AbWHKgIkmxH_r7VVrE/view?usp=sharing -Select the download icon in the upper right (From Aranis777) 2) Unzip the file and dump the whole folder in the KCD mods folder.(If you do not have a mods folder just create one and named as "mods".) - In your downloads folder you will have "Black_Knight_Gear" folder. WHen you open this folder there will be a "Localization" titled folder, an "Data" titled folder, and a "mod.manifest". file. Assuming you atleast have your Mods folder like this D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Mods, you will also have to create a new folder titled BlackKnightGear NOT Black_Knight_Gear 1st as if you have a mod_order.txt file D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Mods it doesnt read spaces, and special chars. After this step copy the files from "Localization" titled folder, an "Data" titled folder, and a "mod.manifest". file inside the BlackKnightGear folder that should now exist. IE D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Mods\BlackKnightGear Finally Open your mod_order.txt file and paste "BlackKnightGear" w/o the quotes there, and save the file. 3) You have to install a mod called "cheat mod". The devconsole is not enough, you explicitly need the cheat mod. Reference to cheat mod -> https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/106?tab=description 4) Move the items.txt & sword.txt files to your main KCD Data folder. D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Data
It should be all working now, in console type - exec items.txt or exec sword.txt
Also for those whom wish to use the "Holy Sepulchre Gear - PTF Edition" mod, it conflicts with black armor mod. So, pick your poison I'd say. Enjoy :)
I don't have the "mod.manifest" or "mod_order.txt" files and though it probably doesn't matter my downloaded file is "Black_Armor" not "Black_Knight_Gear". Idk what is going on but all my gear is grayed out and not usable. Does anyone know what is going on because I don't.
1. Extract the Black Armour file inside your mods file.Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Mods2. Copy the items.txt and sword.txt inside your data file. Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Data
That's all you have to do...for now, at least...
Messed up texts/Cannot find items 1. Open the Localization folder of the "Black Armour" folder inside the "Mods" folder Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Mods\BlackArmour\Localization 2. Right-click on English_xml.pak 3. Open it with WinRar 4. Find text_ui_items.xml and extract it to your localization folder(The one that's inside your mods folder. This is important, so you won't be confused along the way) 5. Go back to the main file Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance 6. Click on Localization Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Localization 7. Open English_xml.pak with WinRar and delete text_ui_items.xml 8. Go back to the Localization file inside your Mods file...the text_ui_items.xml we exctracted earlier(step4) and drag it inside the opened English_xml.pak(The original English_xml.pak, opened with winrar) 9. Now you should have a new text_ui_items.xml dated 2020, I think, inside the winrar english_xml.pak 10. Save it..."Save archive copy as..." and put it somewhere far from the 2 english_xml.pak. DO NOT GET CONFUSED!. Make a folder somewhere in your desktop and save it there. 11. Now copy the english_xml.pak that we saved to your desktop and put it inside the Localization at your main folder and the Localization inside your mods folder. BOTH FOLDER ?Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Localization Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Mods\BlackArmour\Localization That's it!
Oh idk if this somehow help but I have a "mod order.txt" inside my mods folder containing the mods I have and in order -<- Thanks @Malcroix for this :)) Start a new game
Black armourJune 11 2023 and it's still working perfectly in my game.
For the errors you're getting, Sorry if I somehow made it confusing....to make it simple all you really have to do is 1. Download the mod from my previous comment which is this one -> black armour 2. You should have an english.xml.pak in your localization folder from the MAIN FOLDER of the game and inside the BLACK ARMOUR folder you downloaded. 3. You need to delete the text_ui_items.xml from your main folder's english.xml.pak and replace it with the mod's text_ui_items.xml from it's english.xml.pak. Then copy and paste the newly modified english.xml.pak in both localization folder of the game and the mod.
that's weird It came with the xml pak when i downloaded it. I should've done this sooner but, I dont know if this is allowed... here's the mod from my folder. Black armour fixed folder
Nope, you just copy them in your folder. english.xml.pak inside the Localization goes in the main folder's localization, and just copy the black armour folder inside your mods. HEADS UP! You need the Cheat mod to be able to "activate" the armour and sword. After you have everything, start the game, hit "~" on your keyboard and type "exec items.txt"
Didnt work for me still with the fixed... Still said the items were missing or couldnt be found or whatever... I deleted all the files that was replaced and verifying game files to try again...
I would have loved for this mod to work. unfortunately no fix on this thread has made it work. Even after trying for 2 hours. I believe this mod just does not work
We prolly encountered the same problem and I was able to make it work somehow. As of July 2023, It's still working fine in my game. Here's my mod folder -> [Fixed] Black armour
Localization goes to the main folder's localization Mods goes into mods folder
Do you also have it with the full helmet visor/vision working in this file, or without? Because this mod never worked with the typical helmet vision, as per the default game rules, always just no vision . The hood worked.
The mod caused an error that caused some items to be removed mid game not sure which mod it conflicts with especially when I haven't added any other armor mods
The most recent upload on the comments section (date DEC 2022) DOES work.
But my question is, why does this mod not use/allow a full helmet viso/vision, as the game uses by default for any full helmet type? Is this a bug or intent, and can you fix it.
Thank you.
PS: This mod would require a full official update/reupload IMO with the fixed version, would it be possible? Also there was once a second working and fixed version uploaded on Nexus but Nexus deleted it for some reason. Currently there are just 2 versions, this one and the Chinese version (not sure if working). Please stop deleting functioning mod content Nexus, that's just bad user support.
Again the upload link on comments sections (DEC 2022) IS working. No helmet visor though (why?).
