Soooo... this mod is really only working from the beginning of a playthrough?
Because it says, "Don't use this mod if the Tournament Quest is active". But that's just the f***ng thing, the Tournament Quest activates itself almost as soon as you start the game, on it's own, whether you want it to or not. Henry stands up for the first time in Miller Peshek's house, steps outside, washes his face, turns towards Miller Peshek, and ... *Ba-dum!* "Compete in the Rattay Tournament!"
So I'm a little confused about this part. Why don't you just say, "Only install this at the beginning of a playthrough"?
Just wait for the tournament to NOT be in your quest log before installing the mod. The tournament WILL fail/complete and not be in your log at some point. Then you can install the mod.
At the time of authoring the mod I was unsure if installing it at the start of a playthrough would mess up the starting functions of the tournament quest or not. Figured it was safer to let the tourney start, at least once, THEN install the mod (once that first tourney cycle had finished).
Okay. It seems I didn't understand because I thought the Tournament quest continuously remained in the quest log menu even while in it's dormant state (no shield symbol). I hadn't realized that it just vanishes from the list after it fails, and then pops back on the list when it reactivates. Thanks!
I'm using Google Translate. The point is that the mod doesn't work. I still get the signals about the jousting tournament. The mod was installed when the jousting tournament wasn't in the event list - that's what I wrote earlier. It's hard to understand something if you don't want to understand it. :)
Yes, but the fact it works for most would suggest a user issue. Did you install it with Vortex? If so, try manually. I will try to help you, but “It doesn’t work” isn’t a lot to go on.
Hi, first of all, the mod doesn't work, what else can I say? Since it doesn't even offer the vortex installation option, I installed the mod manually. The path is: ...\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance\Mods\TyburnTournamentDisable\Data\TyburnTournamentDisable.pak
because: "INSTALLATION: Put the TyburnTournamentDisable folder into your Mods folder."
Of course I'm trying to figure out what you did wrong with the mod, since I can see that you don't know much about it. I don't like the fact that the mod isn't listed in mod_order.txt, obviously because it was installed manually, and the installation instructions didn't say that mod_order.txt should be modified. (translated)
And indeed, this was the solution, when installing with vortex, a message immediately came that "tournament disable installed", so mod_order.txt was modified, since vortex handles it. So I recommend a vortex download option (with the appropriate directory structure in the zip). Furthermore, your other mods are also inoperable for this game, for which you gave manual install instructions.
But I did another test, if I remove your mod's line from mod_order.txt and start the game like that, it doesn't say anything about the mod being installed. So for this game, mod_order.txt is important, and since vortex handles it, it's worth installing it with it if possible, or expanding the manual install by expanding mod_order.txt.
Sorry. If you use a mod_order.txt (not everyone does and it’s not entirely needed) it should have been obvious you need to add the mod to it. That’s basic user competence.
All my mods work and I try to help everyone.
I appreciate you leaving a work around for your issue, for anyone else struggling with Vortex, so that we don’t have to continue pulling teeth.
Not everyone uses Vortex. I have a huge knowledge of how to install mods. The multiple, often complex, mods I’ve released for KCD1 have been enjoyed by many, with or without Boretex, but I can only help if users give more than “It don’t work”. As you’ve discovered, thankfully by yourself, it does in fact work.
"Sorry. If you use a mod_order.txt (not everyone does and it’s not entirely needed) it should have been obvious you need to add the mod to it. That’s basic user competence."
You're talking nonsense, shame on you. If I start playing a game, I don't need to know the mechanics of the game, I don't need to understand it. All the mods I installed worked, with a regular mod manager through Vortex. Yours didn't work on its own, because you forced a manual installation. When you started whining about why it wasn't working for me, I went after it and solved the problem for you. Shame on you.
Respectfully, you’re the one with the issues here, not me.
Just to point out it was I who suggested a Vortex problem (you didn’t say you use Vortex originally) and you solved your issue all by yourself from that point on. You’ve learnt something. If you have a mod_order.txt (again, not everyone does) you need to add new mods to it for them to work.
Pretty straight forward.
I’ll be locking this chain now to avoid anymore unnecessary insults.
That's strange. Not saying it's not this, but there is nothing in the script seemingly affecting the function of the mod.
If you want to remove the pop ups on start up try opening the Scripts\Startup\TyburnTournamentDisable_startup.lua and delete the lines in the first function starting with ex( or txt( manually, depending on what you want removed. Save it, close it, say yes.
For anyone wondering if this mod solves the issue with Black Peter ambush - unfortunately not=( I understand this is not the purpose of the mod, but was hoping it was tied somehow to that. Oh well... Thank you so much for all your hard work on those mods!
The mod worked well for a while but after progressing through the main quest the tournament is starting again. Sometimes it starts if I meet Sir Radzig and sometimes it does when I go to sleep doesn't matter if I wake at night or day the tournament starts.
Can I ask, does the tournament play out as you'd expect? Can you enroll, compete and collect rewards?
As far as I'm aware it should be impossible for this to happen with the mod installed. If what is happening is the quest starting (pop-ups/quest in log) but you can't actually complete the quest I may have an idea as to why.
Either way, I'll look into this when I get a chance, but please let me know your findings.
Finally a working mod that disables/stops the tourney and works like a charm (following instructions).
I have couple of questions related to further improvements for the mod if you are going to do that.
1. Have you tested the mod/it's behaviour if you install/start using in right at the beginning, before meeting Sir Ratzig in "The Awakening"? I am asking this, since it always bugged me that on the first day you arrive in Rattay, the Tourney starts and you have two options: either fail it, and have a failed quest in your log (which is annoying to me) or you are forced to rush the training with Bernard in order to level your skills and win it (which is lore/immersion breaking to me personally)
2. If you have tested the mod i have written above, what were the results? If you have not/have no time to do the testing in that scenario, I could volunteer to do so, since I am at the end-ish of my third playthrough (Hardcore) and I am thinking of starting a fourth one.
Technically, yes, I believe the mod will work, as it is, right from the start. I just wanted to cover myself in case the script for the main timer, for some reason, didn’t kick in.
The mod restricts data being sent to the tourney quest and relies on the timer being active. I don’t think the main timer kicks in at the start until after the first tournament, but theoretically installing the mod before the first tourney will work just the same, albeit potentially pausing an initial timer.
As you’re thinking about a new save, and I shamefully didn’t get around to testing this, if you’d be happy to try it out I’d be very grateful. I totally agree with you about how the quest starts. I find it intrusive too.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Apologies you are not at the stage of the Tourney you expected.
Can I ask, did you have to fight Black Peter again?
The aim of the mod is purely to stop the objective notifications. The mod is mainly designed to be used AFTER you have got all you want out of the tournament. The game reverting back to the beginning of the tourney, for it's reward cycle, after un-installing, although not ideal, may just have to be a price that is paid.
I will mark it down as a "feature" of the mod in it's description as I have no idea at present of how I could make the game NOT revert the Tourney rewards back to the 1st stage.
I will also mark the 'bug' as "being looked at" for now. Athough it is not ideal, the purpose of the mod still works, so after a while I may remove it.
Thank you again for this. The more eyes the better
You are replying fast :) No, i did not get any extra quests, or related objectives (most likely due to all of them already being done in my playthrough, both black peter, Capon's champion, Millers one (with extra bets)) and the final fighter was one of the usual/random ones. It seems that by mod "interrupting" tourney results in rewards "countdown" starting from nr.1 onwards again.
P.S. i just thought that it could be a feature for those who accidentally lost or sold the set of Leipa and do not want to use the "cheat mod" to add them via console.
I like that way of thinking It's a good thing this happens!
Thanks for clarifying that the related quests don't seem affected. It seems then that the mod does indeed pause the tourney where you were at, but for some reason resets the reward cycle. I think I can live with that.
I have updated the main mod page to reflect your findings.

Problem: Creating .pak with 7zip is not working.
Solution: When adding the folders Libs and Scripts to archive, you have to select archive format as zip instead of 7z.
thanks!!
I've wanted a mod to disable the tourney notifications for as long as I've had the game, thank you!
