Enjoy! Leave a comment if you like it or if you think it's too much etc. I really threw this together fast on the spot so I will update it in case I tweak it while I'm still playing the game, however once I'm done with my playthrough I won't be messing around with it much.
Why is it so hard for developers to get arrow physics correct? Even if no one in the entire studio has shot a bow before It takes 5 minutes to google arrow velocity 200-300fps. Yet Tom Brady can throw a football faster and straighter than an arrow can shoot in 90% of RPGs. Thank you zenx007 for making archery possible in KCD
I suspect it is for the same good old reason across the game design board: because it's a game, not real world, and 'realism' comes secondary to gameplay balancing of various interlocking systems, especially in rpg games where you are meant to start off as a wimp who can't easily beat his opponents.
i finally revisited this game again after a few years and sad to see some of the older mods are not working anymore as is. glad to see some people still add new mod nowadays or help with updating the older one!
I felt the same way you described in your mod description. All of the mods that seem to "increase the speed" of the arrow was really just a placebo and actually a little immersion-breaking in a way so I didn't like them. I briefly tried to fix it myself in the game files but I couldn't find a way to do it confidently so I gave up. Good job succeeding where I failed and thanks for making a real working mod/fix!
I just downloaded it and I haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising and I'll let you know if I have any feedback. Thanks again!
If you download them manually then: 1. you unzip the folder into your mod folder aka. <KCD folder>/Mods/ 2. you need to create a text file / or edit it if it already exists called mod_order.txt in that very same folder and simply type the name of the mod on a new line and save it.
So for this mod it should look like: <KCD folder>/Mods/mod_order.txt containing a line that reads Archerymod and the folder structure <KCD folder>/Mods/Archerymod/ so when you unzip, you keep the folder as it is
Alternatively you can just use vortex to install and that'll take care of the load order file
Hope that helps :) (maybe I should add that to the description too) Cheers
Edit: Oh, forgot to mention if you have the steam version an easy way to find your KCD folder is to right-click the game in your steam library, select Manage -> browse local files
I was just looking for an arrow mod recently but I did not find what I want. Then all of a sudden, you uploaded a perfectly working fine arrow mod! What a coincidence. Thanks for you mod.
