    I had to disable this mod today, sadly. I dunno if there's more jank introduced in recent patches or what, but the Thrashers are totally broken in the Floodlands.

    • Groups of 1-3 Thrashers will pop into existence 50 yards from my squad. I have view and draw and whatnot set waaaaaay high, and they are popping into existence right up my nose. Dunno if this is an engine issue or if it's deliberate but that's a pretty harsh mechanic if they spawn where they can immediately aggro on your squad from max range....
    • The water breaks everything. The silly things will tapdance at the edge of water and - this is not this mod's fault, but it still sucks - as soon as your characters are in water past their bellies, their combat is disabed. So they chase the Thrashers in, who backpedal into the water, then your characters all just go stupid and float there getting shot in the face. The thrashers are still able to fire even when in "knee deep" (to them) water. And the floodlands is a water maze, you can't close the gap to them in time. It would be a neat challenge if the Squad AI didn't completely break when the Thrasers start playing games coming out of the water 2 inches then going back in. Squaddies keep dropping combat or swimming idly around or....
    • i mean it's kind of funny and all but sadly very broken in practice and ultimately, just not fun to see your squad get wiped due to AI jank and an ancient engine struggling with terrain and pathfinding. To top it off, LOS doesn't really exist, the thrashers see you thru buildings, rocks, trees, you can't actually take cover: they stil hit you with perfect accuracy. So it's not even possible to play smart against them.

    A brilliant idea but the game's ancient engine limitations make it a no-go in its curent form.

    I'm hoping you have the time and inclination to bring your fiendish contraptions to Kenshi 2 when that happens .I suspect they'll be a lot more stable and less hacky.

    This is a great mod, but got damn I want something out of the thrasher bots. I finally catch a group of them and I see the harpoon gun the backpack and the bolts on them, and I can't use them and I want to use the harpoons, bolts, all of it. And I think I saw a kenshi youtube series where the thrasher harpoons were getting used by player characters. Was that a modified version of the mod? Or did he just mod it and not share it, I guess the latter because of "unspoken" rules about modding.

    Edit: I do notice however that you can out the thrasher parts in the research bench.

      Well, the CPUs are great cash for selling. Aside from that, if you wanted to mod the weapon to use it, either 1) use them on a custom race, or 2) go into the FCS and remove the "race exclusion" from the weapon, that's how they're prevented from being used (and that's why custom races can use them, being not on the list, of course).

      Honestly it's comparable to an Eagle's Cross except for the rapid fire, and the size and stacking of the ammo makes it somewhat cumbersome anyway.

    I finally met one of these robots. He took out all the members of my little squad one by one in less than two minutes. No thanks, but thank you for this excellent module. These robots are not to be taken lightly...

    Bad bug (real one this time) - there's a squad of Thrashers that can spawn directly below the Scraphouse, but they seem to be allied with the Scraphouse guards - attacking them aggros all the guards! Tested this a bunch, it's definitely as soon as you attack them, I'm guessing you made it so they wouldn't attack the Scraphouse but the result means you can't defend yourself against them or you PO the entire Scraphouse. Maybe remove the Allied tag and move the spawn a little further away?

    If you're still around - I think I see why the weapon is invisible in game.... the mesh file in

    .\mods\Thrasher_Warbot\items\weapons\crossbow\Thrasher_Weapon.mesh

    is only 2k. Seems to be corrupted or blank or something? Other crossbow meshes are in the range of 300k. Bad upload?

    EDIT: HAHA NEVER MIND, i see now it's not supposed to be wieldable; I just happened to pick one up the first time on a custom race so of course it wasn't on the Exclude list, and you scaled it down to a singularity so it wouldn't show on the robot model. Got it. All clear.

    What a horrifying and wonderful idea.

    Model looks great. And now we have KillerDeathBots in Ghille suits.

    Another comment mentions a sound they make. How did you add a custom sound to the game?? I tried to hack apart the Wwise archive and make my own replacement, but hit a wall when it seemed like I needed the dev's original manifest to recompile it.

    Thanks for this and other mods IdeaDork, no one makes robots like you.

    My little trip to the Floodlands became a harrowing nightmare as most of my team had to huddle behind rocks while harpoons rained upon them. I have been very fortunate to find 2 [specialist] Thrasher Harpoons, at the cost of several men, so I can actually out range most thrashers. but for the majority of my team that is melee, those Thrashers are nightmare incarnate. Sudden death from 150 meters away..

    *edit* I am really happy that they have that *WHHHIIIIIIRRRRR* sound. If not I guarantee my entire squad would be dead :D

    this is a very interesting unit i would love it if there is a recruitable broken one that needs a mini quest line to get imo or plain recuit it, just 1 would be enough balanced and fun to have if possible
