I agree, sometimes I dont get the decisions people choose to make when making a mod. I mean wouldnt it seem more obvious to, at the least, choose a shackle/collar/chains of some type in place of a ring? I mean the game even already has those items, and all the icons, textures and everything else in the base game why not use those assets and incorporate them? Checking the other comments shows quite a few people are having issues, it just seems like it would be better to try and make things as "obvious" and streamlined as possible.

I know why it is when I try do create mod about mix slavery. If I make cloth locked in modding tool, the exe saled with Kenshi on steam, anyone who wear the cloth will be slaved by "someone", its slavery systerm binds any locked cloth, and I dont know how to chang in modding tool, this mod dont either. I hope next gen game can make shacking an optional condition of slavery rather than binding locked cloth.
English is poor, hope to solve your confusion

    Fellow Gamerbros,

I figured out how to use the Mod, see below for the details. Make sure to read all of the post notes and steps otherwise you will run into issues. Please keep in mind I had written a much bigger guide but I accidentally closed the tab, so now I'm briefing it.

You're essentially creating an unofficial Slave Outpost and the slaves report to one of your player characters.

-- You have to use the Slave buildings, which have the asterisk ("*") at the front of the word, in order for the slaves to 'Work'
-- You cannot use the slaves in your base or outpost, if you try to you will receive the response: "Please take me out of your base"
-- You cannot build the slave buildings too close to your base/outpost otherwise the game will register the slave building as being part of your town/outpost. It needs to register with an NPC town
-- You cannot build any of the regular buildings otherwise it will change things to being part of your outpost

With that being said, to actually enslave NPCs (my primary method) follow the below instructions:
    1. Place the prisoner in the "*Prisoner Cage". The "*Prisoner Cage" is available after you have researched "Slave Buildings III" which is in the "*Slaves" section under the normal Research Tab
NOTE: It's preferable that the prisoner has a minor injury (leg/arm).
ALSO NOTE: You have to wait until the prisoner is no longer unconscious or in a recovery coma
    2. Give ('Loot') the prisoner the Slave Ring you created from the "Slave Ring Craft Bench". Keep in mind the bench I mentioned has no asterisk, I haven't tested if the ring works from the slave alternative
    3. Wait no more than 10seconds after giving the ring and the 'Buy a Slave' appears above your character's head. If this doesn't automatically appear then give "First Aid" to the prisoner inside the cage and then it will appear
    4. The 'Buy/Sell Slave' Menu pops up, of which you "Sell" the prisoner. After doing this, click on the prisoner and it should now have the tag SLAVE above it's original faction. The slave will have shackles created for them automatically.
    5. Now "Talk To" the caged prisoner and choose the option: [1. OBEDIENCE], the prisoner may refuse so try again a few times.
    6. Pretty much once you see the "..." after selecting [OBEDIENCE] you can 'Pick Up' your new slave out of the cage and then 'Put Down'. I haven't tested if 'Set Free' works after successfully enslaving; it may register as actually freeing the slave but give it a test-try if you want.
    7. You can then assign the SLAVE to work on the *buildings by talking ('Talk To') and choosing the options: [9. OTHER, 2. WORK]
NOTE: With regards to feeding the SLAVE I usually just pick them up, place food in their inventory and then put them down. If the 'pick up' isn't available I knock them out by talking to them ('Talk to') then choosing options: [9.OTHER, 8. KNOCKOUT]
ALSO NOTE: If the SLAVE becomes an ESCAPED SLAVE or an EX-SLAVE then they don't seem to do what they're told. I can't yet confirm if re-enslaving them works because they pulled a runner ("Retreating Fast") while I was preoccupied elsewhere.

To my understanding the Shackles Bench to craft shackles is used when you want to turn playable characters into slave NPCs but I haven't tested it.

So my current setup is the following: I have one *Stormhouse that is associated with the "Ravaged Hamlet" town in BAST, since it's the closest NPC town to register with (regardless of being alive or abandoned). I have six enslaved Hive "Outlaw Farmers" and "Manhunters" that I use to operate the *Copper Mines. I place Foul Meat in their inventory while my Slaver Character hauls the copper to the *Copper Storage. And I have a few caged "Sand Ninjas" I'm preparing to use as bodyguards, since my enslaved "Outlaw Farmers Swordsman" keeps getting his ass kicked by Skimmers. When my solo Slaver Character got knocked out the SLAVES turned into ESCAPED SLAVES so I haven't yet tested the distance the Slaver can go before the SLAVES change to ESCAPED. As a result I haven't hired Mercenaries for protection and since I have over 6 slaves I can't be bothered trying to have them all follow me through the desert while I try and find Mercenaries.

I can't yet confirm what happens if the original factions see their friends enslaved.

I may put up some screenshots later; like I said at the beginning I am just briefing for now.

This is a great mod. Enslaving Slave Traders after the've captured some of your best characters for the stone mines, is so... Satisfying! Sweet sweet revenge.

    Sadly, it is not perfect.

    The Shackle method is the most consistent method in my experience;

    • Research *Shackles Craft under *Slavery.
    • Build a Shackles Craft Bench.
    • Craft Prisoner Shackles for 5 Iron Plates.
    • Loot an unconsious or sleeping NPC, and remove any boots from their boot slot. Close their bag if they have one too.
    • Right click the Prisoner Shackles in your characters inventory to send them to the NPCs boot slot. This will give them the slave tag.
    • Talk to the Slave once they are consious (the speech bubble will show above their head when you hover your mouse over them.    *Sometimes this might not work right away, but give it a minute and it will eventually show.
    • Select Obedience, or Obedience (remove shackles) to have the NPC lock pick their shackles.    *Sometimes this may not work and the slave may try to escape or lock pick their own shackles. Just try to talk to them again or knock them out and put them in a cage to think about what they've done for a while.
    • If it works you can talk to your slave to issue commands. I haven't used these commands much but they seem buggy. I just invite them to my squad.
    • Other --> Slave Management --> Join Squad.   *I find this buggy sometimes, for example sometimes your turrent characters will attack them after they've joined your squad (as they previously were enemies).

The Slave ring method works, however poorly. I can see why the original author tried it though.

As Prisoner Shackles are classed as an armour, you cannot create a specific storage container to store them and completely automate their creation. This is a limitation of FCS. Best you can do is build an Armour Storage chest and autohaul to it while working the craft bench.

The problem with creating a new slave item is unless it is a piece of armour it can't inherit the same slave properties as the Prisoner Shackles, so he does it though awkward steps and the buy slave dialogue.

I'm curently working on editing this mod to remove the slave ring method, all the extra buildings and dialogue choices. I can upload it if their is any interest.

I have a problem with the "recruitment" of cannibals of whatever variety, there are times when they can be enslaved as usual and there are times where I follow the process to where the sell slave window appears and the cannibal says "..." but there will be no dialogue option for obedience. I think it only happens with cannibals since I have used this mod for a long time and it has worked very well with the other races.

Can someone make still type of mod without all the extra steps? Just make a way to shackle or collar them. This is not worth downloading after reading all the steps to enslave someone. I cannot see this being fun. Someone was smart enough to make a mod, but not smart enough to make it simple.

I'm encountering a strange bug.  Firstly, I'm using quite a few mods...maybe there is a dependency I don't know about.

The bug:  Vanilla research which require a vanilla research bench will not be researchable after building the required research bench.  However, if I build the SLAVE VERSION of the research bench, then and ONLY then does the vanilla research become available.

Even uninstalling the mod does not fix.  The vanilla research it permanently unavailable even after building required research bench--I must use this mod just for vanilla research requirements lol.

Slave Ring doesn't work, Don't craft the Slave Ring Workbench.
Slave Shackles works, and is the only thing that works to get the Slave to talk to you.
Cannot Slave anyone who can't equip shackles or anything on the feet.

The conversation menu is messy and could have been made to look cooler and organised.

1)- You need to talk to them first with 1 of the "Obedience" options.
-There is an escape check after talk, if they break the shackles and attempt escape you can just capture them again and put them back in.
2)- You need to then talk to them again after picking Obedience, if they managed to escape you go back to 1)
    3)- Pick "Slave management"
4)- Slave menu and Squad Join options are at this point.

Wish this mod had more love put into it, this could have been a bit more immersive or atleast looked better instead of cluttering my build options with *buildings.
Took a while to figure out the Slave Ring not working bug, so im not enjoying this mod as much as i should i think.
Coulda made a Shackles and Ring slaver storage box so crafting automation, but it's all manual.

Thank you very much, Mr. Was just wondering the same way with that damn ring, while the shackle crafting bank had no items showing up to craft...

Your post belongs to the main description, as right now it's dysfunctional the way described throughout the screens.

Wish I could give you +1 anyhow.

See my latest post for details.

The Slave Ring works, it's just that the correct how-to steps weren't provided. The modder is a non-native English speaker, so I can't fault him for that I suppose.

Not true. The Slave Ring does work but there are just a bunch of conditions that need to be met beforehand.

This is possibly very functional if you can figure out how to use it. I got some of it to work. But most of the slaves for some reason or other will get an "Escaped Slave" tag sooner or later if you "recuit slave". It will just keep counting down and theyll be an Ex Slave then eventually not a slave. But theyll be shackled still.  There seems to be no benefit to recruiting slaves other than RP. The other menu has many options but other than a simple "patrol town" i couldnt get them to anything. Aside from cannibal.  For me it was better to use Recruit Prisoners. With more details and a better guide, you might find it useful but likely it will just frustrate you. Its never clear if something isnt working or if you just dont know how to do it.

There is also an added benefit/pitfall w/ regard to the slave traders. If you get within range of one of their captured slaves, you'll get the "Buy Slave" "Obedience" pop up. I made the mistake of clicking Buy Slave not knowing there was a Slave caravan walking by. So it makes the slave mongers aggro and gives you negative rep. I think it happens if you have a ring on you.
