    Is there any special way to install it if you are using Vortex to download it? Or can I just hit Vortex install button on your mod page and it will work?

      The Vortex install button should work to install the mod, however, you will still need to go to the mod contents and copy the files inside the folder "Copy contents to Kenshi_64.exe location" to the Kenshi_64.exe location. There is just no way around it at the moment.

    Nice darker night, the only thing is I feel that the illumination radius of  lanterns is very small To the point that they feel useless..

    When the game starts the reshade quick notification at the top flashes the config message, basically what I see is something like:
    To open the Reshade config menu press ' '

    So for me I think it looks like the shift and ' key, which is "  ...  or double click ' which is ''
    Or is it the space between the ` ` but that does not open the reshade config...  Maybe it's my keyboard, what is the key input?

      It means no key has been set. It's also a mistake on my part. You can set the key by going to: "...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kenshi". Find reshade.ini and open it. Under "[INPUT]" find "KeyOverlay" and set it to "36,0,0,0" (Home button).
      [INPUT]
      ForceShortcutModifiers=1
      InputProcessing=1
      KeyEffects=0,0,0,0
      KeyNextPreset=0,0,0,0
      KeyOverlay=36,0,0,0
      KeyPerformanceMode=0,0,0,0
      KeyPreviousPreset=0,0,0,0
      KeyReload=0,0,0,0
      KeyScreenshot=0,0,0,0

      Performance mode is intentionally disabled by default. If you're only using the effects provided, there is no need to enable it.

    I like this one so far, it's pretty minimalist and doesn't go too overboard for me

      Try lanterns. Light sources have been tweaked to be brighter to help navigate nighttime. However, you can just tweak the darkness levels with the modding tool if the darkness isn't your thing. Just open my mod and find my tweaks under changes. Make sure to tweak the lights too or else they will be too bright. I'll see if I can upload a brighter nights version soon.

      I second the request for a brighter nights version. Otherwise, this reshade looks great.

      There will be a brighter nights version soon. For now, this is what you can do:

      • Disable Desert Reshade mod and keep the Reshade on
        - The mod tweaks the night time darkness and light sources. Disabling it will revert the values to vanilla.
        Still too dark? Proceed to number 2.
      • Find a mod that increase night time brightness.
        - Any mod that tweaks the night darkness values should do the trick. There are plenty in the steam workshop with varying values. You just have to find your one that fits your preference.
      • Install the night brightness mod of your choice
      • Disable the Desert Reshade mod
        - This is important or else light sources will be too bright.

        Edit: Brighter nights version available in the optional files.
