downloaded this because i need 1280x960 screen resolution (the amateur developers of this game think 1280x1024 is 4:3 but its not its 5:4)
but you forced widescreen fov for every resolution so i have to reinstall vanilla and choose 1024x768 :(
I personally believe old games look better in windowed mode at the aspect ratio they were designed for. I just want 1280x960 because thats the largest 4:3 window that doesnt conflict with the taskbar. Soo many old games are missing that resolution and instead have 1280x1024 which is a borked resolution that shouldnt even exist.
12700k + 4070ti super + 1tb nvme and i play old games in windowed mode because they have the best graphics that way. You can also get dialed in/zoned in to a windowed mode game much easier. I swear people gotta try it.
All unreal engine 1 games make this same screw up, in fact, you can click "show only 4:3 resolutions" and 1280x1024 is listed as one of the 4:3 resolutions. Its not a 4:3 resolution. its the maximum resolution for a lot of old games so its cool to go back in time, fix that mistake, and to see all these old games in correct 4:3 aspect ratios.
I just dont like the way old games look in fullscreen. I understand you can fix the fov to make the dimensions correct. But these old games werent designed to see so much imo.

is there any way i can like hex edit the original exe to simply change the vanilla resolution to 1280x960?
I was able to fix the E356 error message and get it to successfully finish the launch loading bar, flash up a black window of Kabus for about a second or two that then closes to desktop. Doesn't seem to pop an error message, it just closes.
Anyone know what next steps I could take? There's basically no information or knowledge bases out there on this topic, unfortunately :(
First of all thanks for the effort of making this mode :) Second, do I understand correctly that I must copy and past all the mod files in main game directory (and cut scenes also in main game directory)? I tried to do so and got Startup failure Error E 356 when pressing Run. I tried mod with a version above both English and Turkish version - result is the same. Before the mod, the game did start but 1) cut scenes didn't play; 2) menus display incorrectly and the most annoying 3) I got random ERROR E1004 Not enough memory (0mb required) in different sections of game.
Hey! 1. Delete the options.k22 file from the game's main folder. 2. Copy all the files from the mod's folder into the game's folder, overwriting the original files. 3. From the mod's cutscenes folder copy all the files directly into the game's main folder, overwriting the original files. 4. Delete the K22.exe file, rename the K22_4GB.exe to K22.exe. 5. Add both the K22.exe and Kabus22.exe files to the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) list under Advanced System Settings > Performance. 6. In the .cfg file set the resolution to 1920*1200. + Just to be sure install the Ogg codecs from the game disc's Drivers folder, and get a copy of the Indeo 5 Video Codec and install it.
This fixed the E1004 Not Enough Memory error message for me, the DEP list should fix the Startup Failure error message. For me the game works by starting it via the launcher, the resolution is HD and all the cutscenes work. (Win10 64x)

I had to create the _data/saves folder myself. I was getting error 106 the game was not saved. google wasn't helpful. Just adding a comment in case anyone stumbles into the same problem.
Dude, you have done God's work. Thank you so much for your efforts! I've played the game once, two years ago and the issues you have fixed were so annoying that it stopped me from having fun the way it was supposed to be.

please send me the acklog.txt file so i can better understand the issue and fix it in the next updates.

Where can I write the cheats? Do I need to open a console? How do I open the console?
