I think the only gripe I have with the layout (probably a game issue vs a creator issue) is the way the marine dinosaurs sometimes swim through some of the bordering terrain or swim into the middle small island. Just a visual issue for me but overall I love the concept. Thank you!
That’s how lagoon creatures interact with the terrain that they simply aren’t coded to interact with. It’s a base game thing, though open lagoons really shows the limitations of lagoons. If you notice, pterosaurs don’t fly over lagoons either, they just dive in and fly under the water like normal. At least with that you can pretend they’re swimming to catch fish or something. Basically lagoon physics work completely differently from normal terrain.
Wow that's interesting, it makes a lot of sense now that you've laid out the information lol I appreciate it. I figured it was a flaw in the game design, which kind of takes away from the immersion of it all but eh, beggars cant be choosers I guess.
Noob Here! Do I have to download this and stuff it somewhere in my game data or do I have to build it. If I have to stuff the download somewhere PLZ SAY.
Unfortunately that would require building it from scratch, and it would be missing features like some rocks, plants, and lagoon platforms. I have tried previously to make dlc free versions but the maps don't load at all without them. Basically it would require building a map from the beginning without those dlc installed.
I tried moving it to my "saved" folder under JWE 2 but there's nothing in that folder (maybe it's for modded islands and not saved islands in general, idk). I tried extracting it and placing it in there and also tried it without extracting but it still won't show up in game
Half an hour? It should only take about 5 minutes. That’s strange.
If you have a lot of mods installed, that could be it. Games run slower processing all of those new mods especially on a big and detailed map like this.
Gonna download this to try it out. I also play PoT so this will be interesting to see! I'll edit this comment with my overall opinion.
EDIT: This is absolutely phenomenal! This reminds of PoT because of the burrow critters scattered around, and it really reminds me of the Great Valley from the Land Before Time. You certainly have the talents of a professional! Might I again recommend that you tackle the jungle map from Dino Crisis 2? I'm not sure if you ever played the game before, but if you have you'll know what I'm talking about. As much as anyone could probably complete a map of the town you visit later in the game, I'm talking about the jungle route with the Military Base, Research Facility, and Missile Silo. I'm quite positive you could finish it with your skills.
Thank you for the compliments. I didn’t even think of the Great Valley, lol. Though Primordial Valley is mostly Panjura inspired, I threw in some Gondwa to spice it up. Particularly the hotsprings, small marsh, but especially the biomes in the bay.
As for the Dino Crisis map, I would like to but I have not played any of the games and the online map references aren’t helpful. I could do a general geography of the mountain and crater but that would be about it. I guess the closest I can do to Dino Crisis inspired would be “the Island” I already made. I would absolutely create a Dino Crisis inspired map though if I could. The games are hard to come by for pc though.
Did you extract the sandbox file from the 7z file you downloaded? Nexus doesn’t allow us to upload the files directly, they have to be packaged in an archive like 7z or .rar
If you went to the correct folder on your pc, you just copy the PRIMORDIAL VALLEY-62F62B93.sandbox file from 7z file you downloaded and paste it into your saved games folder. From there, it should show up when you try loading up a sandbox save. It will be listed as Primordial Valley.
Thank you! I enjoy making maps with a more naturalistic style. You might enjoy another map I made then, the Island. Though this certainly is more nature focused like the Path of Titans maps and less mod heavy. That one is based on Isla Sorna and the Isle including a lot more little details and easter eggs. Though the lagoon there is substantially smaller.
