I honestly prefer the Ingen (Biosyn? Mantahcorp?) style instead, I mean, this is a Jurassic Park game, not Prehistoric Kingdom, it's going to have a Jurassic Park aesthetic, I do like paleo though, but in a Jurassic game, the Ingen style is best. In my opinion at least, I won't shut you up for having a different opinion.
People are more salty that their prehistoric paleo fish just got more domestic looking and I'm sitting here thinking this fucker could still kill you more easily than the biggest non-extinct catfish would.
The mod looks nice, honestly it's more than likely what the animal did look like. People are just being nostalgic and weird. Only gripe is maybe it should be a bit more deep-set, like a rounder belly.
Thanks for the effort in following accuracy but I'm sure the game's Dunkleosteus will prove to be more accurate in the long run, and also it looks cooler than the tadpole that the recent paper suggests.
For anyone beating on frontier for making a "inacurate" Dunk, you have to remember that the paper that stated that the Dunk was probaly more stout and smol came out only 5 months ago. By then, frontier had probaly finished modeling for the aquatics. And, if you look back on old dunk, most fiction and fan art depicted it as just a shark with bone head, but frontier actually mad it MORE fish-like and MORE scintificly acurate than most dipictions at the time. Just a food for thought.
Yeah I don't get why people are so fussed about it. Its not the worst thing ever because its inaccurate. Heck Frontier has made some ugly and more inaccurate designs before this one. We should be glad the dunk still looks unique and iconic even if it only got outdated now.
not to mention that paper is bunk hack fraud bs like most crap "paleontologists" spew out with ZERO evidence these days. they made look dumb and lame and inaccurate af! leave it alone! frontiers is ACTUALLY ACCUARTE! something modern "paleontologists" clearly don't understand since their entire goal seems to be to RUIN every prehistoric creature possible! all while literally abandoning the scientific method! new dunk is bunk deal with it!
Thanks for this. The og dunk was just plain wrong - again. Frontier just doesn't care about accurate reconstructions at all when it comes to the more popular creatures. Just a sign that $$$ speaks.
i see where your coming from but frontier does care which is why the spinosaurus is still the spinosaurus it is and isnt the paleo accurate one because it has a certain style.
That's not the same. The spinosaurus is a movie dinosaur. Of course they need to make it movie accurate, since this is a jurassic franchise game with a license. But the Yutyrannus or Synosauropteryx on the other hand were excellent. Not entirely accurate, but very close.
As far as the lore goes, it doesn't really make sense for the dinosaurs or other creatures to be accurate reconstructions. One of the biggest plot points of the Jurassic franchise is that none of them are even really "dinosaurs" to begin with because the people making them cared more about appeal than actual scientific value.
I see what you mean, but to my knowledge the new reconstruction hasn't taken the place of the old one. I believe it's still in debate whether that is a better representation of the dunkleosteus. InGen is also kinda known to not make accurate dinos.
I don't think "Evil Greedy Frontier" purposefully made Dunkleosteus look "inaccurate" for profit. If anything Frontier's own designs are always way more accurate than the JW designs. Anky bad? NP use Frontiers Euplo as a stand in. ETC. ETC. There are 2 styles in the game at the moment. A movie Franchise style that is there to farm nostalgia (For understandable reasons) and Frontiers own designs - which are overall quite good and give fair alternatives to the movie monsters.
It think its more annoying that paleo nerds moan so much about designs that aren't even that bad to begin with. Frontier does care about accuracy otherwise we wouldn't have gotten the Feathered Species pack. Like every other reasonable person has already said, this DLC was probably in production before the paper was even out and it's still a debatable theory whether the Dunk was actually shaped like that. I think its ridiculous that people saw the dunk and immediately jumped to the conclusion that Frontier are greedy, since they didn't pander to the small group of vocal nerds who are overly pessimistic.
