Hi Guys, thanks for your feedback and I'm so sorry about the slow loading times that you are facing with this mod pack. I have already explored every possible solutions from my side like cleaning main.ovl files and remove garbage files in all 30 tree folders, but it doesn't make any change. Until we get an option to properly extract main.ovl files without missing any files or allowing to inject files that not existing in the ovl file, improving the loading time will not be possible.
I have an idea. What if you merge all of these trees together similarly to how the different paths and fences are in a "sub-folber" instead of simply being on the "Decoration" tab? Would it be possible?
Great idea! Unfortunately, at the moment I don't know how that can be implemented, but that's something that we will need if we need to add more scenery items.
Hi Guys, thanks for your suggestions. I don't think moving trees into signs tab is a good idea as we cannot see signs in JW Era? Also it will not help on loading times. The culprit here is main.ovl, which is having 10,000+ garbage files in a single main ovl file. Those cannot be simply remove by one key press. However I'm working on to get rid of these garbage files and improve the loading times and I already see some good results. Allow me some time, so I'll come back with performance improvements.
So ive seen alot of people say the loading takes ages but for me its not a problem, the problem was the fact that it wouldnt work and the thing would bug me into the game forcing me to do a NEAR FULL (not full) restart of my PC, so heres a tip
Copy and paste the Trees into the olvdata, NOT the pack, just the trees. (when i say trees i also mean the other things like lilys btw)
Moved everything to an SSD. Removed some of the plants I could stand to lose, GRANTED I want to keep them all, but shaving down the pack helps. I have:
1,4,6,9,11,12,14,15,16,18,19,21,22,25-29
This reduced the time to about 6 min. I have almost every other mod, gameplay, new species, replacement, ect. I do not have any other scenery installed.
Hopefully at some point, this can be shaved down, perhaps simply shaving down the texture size will help? I'm sure you've tried this already. Though I would throw my 2 cents in. Amazing mod reguardless!
EDIT: With all other scenery, the time is 6 min 40 seconds. This includes all my other dinosaurs (240 or so) all the replacers, bigger islands, Dinosaur breeding, AI overhaul ect.
I recommend what i did. Put all your mods into a separate folder for a back-up. Then have only this mod installed. Once that's done, remove the trees you don't want.
This shaved down mine, but I also moved everything to an SSD
PZTreePack26 and PZTreePack27 folders both keep crashing the game for some reason. I think it has something to do with the T-Rex paddock new scenery items. Maybe it has the same ID as one of them?
