It's criminal that this doesn't have more endorsements. I think this is probably my favorite modded dinosaurs, period. Considering your Micropachycephlasaurus is also in my top 10 or so, I wish you'd made more mods haha. Anyways, excellent work.
Hi i was quite anxious that i couldn't used it since you said it needed rtjp dlc and i don't have but i wanted to try since what was necessary should work fine and it work so i'm happy ^^ and relieved looks really good but please take out the require rtjp dlc it make confusion and it isn't required and great work he looks really good and finally a new stegosaurid ^^
Oh, that's good to know. I originally put it as a requirement since I used the 97 variant of Stegosaurus as a base and I wasn't sure if it was hooked into anything else in that DLC which made it work. I'll change it now.
This is much artistic one than paleo accurate. Though I'm very appreciate there's a stegosaur mod. And using Chungkingosaurus as base is a really good choice. Hope there will be paleo accurate one coming.
Stegosaurus had a large throat pouch that was covered in large bony structures believed to protect it's neck from Carnivores or the thagomizers of a rival Stegosaur.
If it is artistic liberty, i'd say it's a reasonably accurate speculation.
Ecologist/Paleoecologist here, the neck spines and dewlap are completely artistic liberty, not accurate in the slightest.
Stegosaurs instead had a series of tiny bones as part of the very base layer of the skin around the underside of the neck often called 'gular armour', that acted like chainmail. These show us the shape of the skin around the neck and that the skin was held close around the neck and would not have hung down from the neck in a significant way, without a dewlap or spines, or a neck pouch.
The shape of Osteoderms on the back are obvious wrong, not mention the number. Spikes on thagomizer need to be more horizontally. The shape of large throat pouch you mention are far more artistic liberty than reasonably accurate speculation.
by spines we're talking about the small spikes on the underside of the neck in the model, not the small plates on the top of the neck, the real animal did have those plates like in your photo
If you would be kind enough to provide a reference that isn't conflating each other like all the images on Google I'd be happy to edit the model to make it at least a bit more accurate. I redid the model several times when making this and each time I would find a different reference with different features. In the end this design ended up as an amalgam of sorts.
Also yes, the spines and dewlap were all artistic. I found one piece of art with a throat pouch with smaller spines on it and decided to make it a lot more exaggerated.

This is the most up to date reconstruction, it had 17 plates and thagomizers were oriented the same way as stegosaurus. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CtKgBX9VMAAcNjt.jpg
Honestly I think the model is good as it is, I'm not a fan of the dewlap but others in the comments like it. You should have the mod the way you want it to be, whether that is accurate or not. As long as you're happy with your mod that's all that matters, this is a game after all and no one should expect pinpoint accuracy.
