What is Detective Essentials?
- A core overhaul of Judgment, aimed at bringing you quality of life tweaks without deviating too far from the Judgment identity.
- Various combat tweaks and skill tree tweaks.
- Expanded store selection, restoring cut items to certain storefronts.
- Boss damage rebalancing as well as health value tweaking.
What are some of the new additions that come with Detective Essentials?
- Crane receives it's Sky Dancer movelist from Lost Judgment, fit with effects to fit that of Judgment's Crane. Sky Dancer's basic movement is available from the start.
- Crane receives the forward and rear sway attacks from Lost Judgment, fitted with Judgment Crane effects to blend into this game's style.
- Crane receives an animation speed boost of 1.1, to serve it as a better crowd control style.
- Crane has no more bounceback on it's attacks, which crippled it's efficiency in crowd situations in the base game.
- Crane has it's Lost Judgment light running attack which provides a knockdown effect.
- Crane now has it's Lost Judgment forward throw, which is faster and better to tag enemies in a crowd situation.
- Tiger now has it's Lost Judgment Wall Heavy Attack, a mighty hammerfist with Judgment style Tiger effects.
- Tiger's grapple has been fixed, no longer performing the Crane heavy attack when moving, now performing it's intended attack.
- Tiger can perform a dodge roll from a guarding position much like Lost Judgment, this move is available from the start.
-Tiger's Resolute Counter skill now no longer requires the skill book, instead the 2nd tier of this skill now requires it instead.
- New Skill books can be found at shops in Kamurocho that will unlock skills (Note that if you load a game where you already had the skill unlocked prior to the mod, then the skill book won't be needed, it doesn't retroactively lock the skill.)
- Cut healing items have been added to the game, you can find them at a certain store once you reach chapter 5.
- Overall price rebalancing for items, health kits are no longer extortionate wastes of money, and plates sell for far more than normal, to help with angel investing.
- Onodera has more cheating items for your filthy gambling habits.
- Skill pricing has been rebalanced and some costs have moved around for a better sense of progression towards core skills.
- Skills that boost the EX Gauge from town activities, such as smoking and meeting friends have been massively buffed, making them useful.
- Some bosses have had their damage multiplier reduced to avoid that certain "death in 3 hits" feeling the game has.
- Time to remember where your keys are, because that skill is going to cost an arm and a leg.
Are there any issues with this mod?
- I've been testing this mod extensively before release in an attempt to avoid such issues.
- There is a minor lag when accessing the skill tree now, this appears to be due to the recent updates and RMM to deal with it, the most up to date version of RMM however has very little lag.
- If the combat is unbalanced in either being too easy or too hard, constructive feedback only, if you don't know what you're talking about, don't talk.
Possible Questions:
Q: Can I install this mod at any point in the game?
A: It should work with close to no issue yes, however the best experience with this mod is a fresh new game, where the new skill locks will still be active, as a current save before the mod most likely will have those skills already unlocked, thus defeating the new progression but you shouldn't really encounter any issues with a mid playthrough install. (I don't care if you're mid-way though, I'm recommending you start a new game for this mod.)
Q: Can you add X thing to this mod?
A: Depends on if I want to, or if it's a good suggestion.
Q: How do I install this?
A: Via RMM, Ryu Mod Manager. If you don't know how to use that, you shouldn't be here in all honesty and should go download the tool, and read it's instructions first before returning to download the mod.
Q: Can I use other mods with this?
A: Hypothetically, any mods that edits the shop, items, player, battle, puid, fighter cfc will conflict, as this mod edits a lot of core components of the game, you won't be able to use the moves of DE with any other mod that changes movesets.
Q: This mod doesn't work in other languages?
A: Obviously not, this was made by someone who has the english files, due to only knowing the english language, and no that means there won't be other language versions due to that tiny eeny weeny little factoid.
Oh and credits of course:
