So ive done everything its asked except the steam.exe copied into gamedata. I try and launch the remaster exe and it says unhandled error code -2147024894. Idk honestly
It's almost impressive how many people have problems and can't fix them...
Anyway, while this mod isn't straight-forward - here are some fixes (I used my Steam version of JK2):
I installed the mod very simply - just put the "SW2_Remaster_Launcher.exe" in the GameData folder and set the resolution and FOV I wanted in the SW2_Remaster.ini file (launch the mod exe once, let it error out - it'll generate the ini file anyway and you can edit it). Then:
1) modify Steam's Launch options of the game (Properties > General> Launch options) to read:
X is your drive, etc - just make sure this points to the new mod executable. In general this "[path to exe]" %command% option is useful for launching modded games via Steam. This prevents the application error everyone is having due to DRM. Please remember this launch option - it's universal for Steam games - no need for any additional exe files!
2) Once in-game, open the console (shift + ~) and enter seta r_ignorehwgamma "1" and then restart the game. This fixes the game being too dark (gamma issues) in idTech 3 (Quake 3 engine) games.
3) To get more fps just enter seta com_maxfps "XXX" into the console, where XXX is your desired framerate (it doesn't seem to limit to exact fps, so you may need to try a few values to get the perfect limit)
I'm having surprisingly bad performance with 4k res on 9th gen i9 + 5700xt. Tried amd fix - game doesn't launch with it. Tried number of different fixes - no joy. It's playable at 1080p but not above. My rig is runnig much, much more demanding games @ 4k with no issues. Any ideas why?
Can these textures be used with Reshade? I gave it a shot but couldnt get it to work correctly. Using the Sw2_remaster launcher doesnt seem to get along with reshade
Install instructions don't work with the Steam version. I followed the instructions and Steam tried to install itself into the gamedata folder. wtf? Anyways I guess time for a fresh install of the game again :P
followed the instructions, won't launch. there's no error message, just nothing happens. I mean I see it trying to launch, the steam thingy pops up and then silence, nothing
