I'm trying this out on a new save, and unfortunately I don't think it's working for me or I just don't understand what the mod does exactly. I'm liberating Ernie Village right now, and I've seen numerous enemies with assault rifles and other weapons not drop anything at all when they die.

Am I maybe misunderstanding what the mod does? Do all enemies carrying weapons drop them when they die, or is it only under specific circumstances?

    Thank you.

does it work on a running game?
Does it work on the current version?
I have the mod downloaded and enabled in game and I don't see a change.
Is it that I should have more of everything from killed units? do I understand that right?

If only you read a user post below (2 posts below yours) you would have read the following:
"I've tested some more and it works but not with already spawned enemies, only with new spawned enemies like patrols and attack squads
because it seems the the current droprate gets written to the NPC's the moment they spawn (which is the old droprate in savegames).

For me, the droprate is too high.

I am now half way through a new game and my troop already has about 2000 scrapparts and about a million bullets ... still having dozends of guns and rifles laying in almost every sector and if I would scrap them too, scrapparts would double, at least ...

Hi! You can edit youself items.lua file in notepad++ editor for example and just double up default droprate values if you don't like 100%

Thanks for the Mod Ksam. Just wanted to say that it works in savegames but with caveats. Like others already said it seems that it doesn't work at first but:

    • Reloading the saves a couple times/restarting the game
    • AND passing some time (i.e. doing operating/travel some sectors)

seems to get it to work and people now drop way more stuff as opposed to vanilla. I can't say if either of these fixes it or if it's the combination of both, because I didn't isolate and tested both steps, but it works regardless.

Edit: It worked some time but now it doesn't anymore, getting the same error as others. FYI, you get 12 errors which corresponds to the amount of Obj in items.lua:
I've tested some more and it works but not with already spawned enemies, only with new spawned enemies like patrols and attack squads because it seems the the current droprate gets written to the NPC's the moment they spawn (which is the old droprate in savegames).

This has been my experience as well. Best to install early or even before a playthough, but if you're well into the game just hunt patrols for a bit and you'll experience the boons.

you know I really wish this was how vanilla worked and to balance it scrapping is an Ops task that takes considerable time like ammo crafting.

It looks like the mod is only working with a new game. If I use a save-game it doesn't worked and the droprate isn't higher!
