While I can see the requirement stating that the Unity mod-manager is required. I prefer not to use a mod-manager for several reasons. If I just want to add these files manually, where would they go?
I choose not to use a mod-manager because I don't want to add additional software for a single mod. People have had issues with mods and games malfunctioning with mod-managers, and I have tried mod-managers before with no result. It's just so much easier to manually add files since I've not had that fail before.
Unity Mod Manager is only needed to install the Unity Mod Manager and Harmony patches so that mods can work in the game. You can use it to install the mods, too, or you can drop them into the mods folder in (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IAmFish\Mods\). Once the game is patched and mods are installed, you don't need to use Unity Mod Manager anymore and you can delete it.
I see, thank you for the reply. I decided to use the mod manager and it went fine. I understand now that it is neccessary to use. I've had a bad experience with it in the past, but I shouldn't judge all of them the same.
Download Unity Mod Manager, select the game, and hit install. This will patch the game so that mods work. Then you can install the mod using Unity Mod Manager or you can drop the folder into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IAmFish\Mods\.
If you prefer to avoid extraneous software. The Mod Manager just puts the files here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IAmFish\Mods\SwimAnywhere
