hey hello, i downloaded and replaced the file correctly, after that i installed ancient aspid and pale court, then i started a new steel soul game and fury of the fallen still costs 2, what went wrong?
I haven't heard of of any issues from other players in all these years, so it's likely the mods mentioned are in conflict or incompatible with one another (I am not familiar with what they do). I'd recommend a clean install, try only this mod and see if Fury of the Fallen has the correct cost.
PS: Also be advised charm costs are stored in save file, so a new save file is required for new charm costs to take effect.
I'm very interested in playing the game for the first time with this mod but can it be combined with the Button Prompt Switcher mod? They both replace the Assembly-CSharp.dll file and I don't know if Recharmed works with Scarab mod loader (and if the mod loader is compatible with a replaced Assembly-CSharp.dll). It's only these two mods I'm interested in, so it should be fine if they can be combined into one file (with both creators' permissions, of course).
EDIT: Seems to be possible with Scarab mod loader, by changing the values manually.
Yeah, Scarab mod loader has countless mods, including one where you can edit various parameters of the Charms, including their costs, so I just followed your list of changes.
Really playing the game for the first time now. I'm liking it so far. Maybe I'll just have to wait a year or less for Silksong afterwards, which is nice.
EDIT: I've finished the game minus some post-game DLC things now, which seem way too hard. I somehow missed Deep Focus, but used some of the other Charms you had modified. Your decisions about the costs seem to be judicious. Thank you again for this mod, even if I didn't use it directly.
Hey, I placed the DLL in the directory specified on the readme and overwrote the original file. However, my charms still cost the same as they did before installing the mod. Am I missing something?
Ok so dumb question probably, but is there any way to install this on the switch? I have a modded switch, but obviously the file format of the mod isn't compatible with the switch on its own. Anyone know how to port this?
No idea. It's just a simple matter of overwriting files (drag this to that and allow to overwrite). But if format doesn't match, then you'd prolly need to convert this file to whatever the Switch uses first.
I would deeply appreciate if Wayward Compass, Gathering Swarm, and Grimmchild were made to be free. The first 2 are just really convenient to have while exploring, and the latter is needed for the 2 Grimm fights, meaning it takes up space I could use for a buff
The design philosophy here is not to change the fundamentals of the game. Charms cost notches, and this "forces" players to make choices. Wayward Compass and Gathering Swarm are simple examples of that. You can wander around without Compass and learn the "lay of the land" by heart (in fact, some might argue Compass is a crutch, as you come to realize in subsequent playthroughs where the map is just in your head).
Similarly, you don't need Gathering Swarm... but it's such a nice quality-of-life (especially when you're short on Geo early on)! So do you make your life easier gathering Geo at the cost of a "better" combat/mobility/utility Charm? That's the tradeoff.
As for Grimmchild... it's a pet/summon like Glowing Womb and Weaversong, so it has to keep the cost of 2. It goes way beyond being just a "handicap" on Grimm's fight!
Sorry to hear! Hollow Knight mods often directly conflict with each other. You have to pick and choose. I always considered Recharmed a "standalone" mod. It's meant to keep the overarching game experience as the dev's intended.
unable to download for some reason, was looking for some help. when i go to download the mod, all that downloads is an .rar file that opens up in Notepad. :(

Extra question. Are this changes on a Scarab mod?

Looks like you figured a solution, though!

Unfortunately, changes only work on new save files (existing saves have charm costs already locked in at creation of save).

PS: There's a mod that makes Charms dirt-cheap here (including Compass/Swarm costing 0).
Then follow instructions in the Readme.
If you got it on GOG, assuming you have game's shortcut icon on desktop, just right click on the shortcut > Open file location
