Can we rename the "dxgi.dll" to something else? since that same name is used when installing Reshade I would like to have both things being compatible.

You can use reshade with Vulkan. Just execute again the reshade installation and then select Vulkan.

What do you mean by "select Vulkan" -- how?... And "execute installation" means RE-INSTALL reshade?

      ---EDIT---

I get it: you just need to re-apply Reshade, as if you're installing it, only choosing "Vulkan" this time (not DX12) -- with the "dxgi.dll" no longer needed as such.

I forgot, yes, the Reshade dxgi is no longer necessary if switched to vulkan. Thanks, I missed that detail.

reshade has a solution but i use specialk for its improved hdr function. i hate to choose between smooth gameplay and beautiful hdr. we need dll chainloading support.

Hi, unfortunatelly, this mod not working for me, i install it as description says but now my game doesn't start at all. Jusk blink for a second in task manager then Unreal crash report exe start and then nothing. Even logs are empty(not unreal one). Drivers are updated, cache deleted, but nothing. So i tried something else. I tried this mod on cracked version, from february....tadaaaa, works on 1st try. So i can only guess there is some permission issues with denuvo or unsigned dlls? Any ideas how to make this works on latest game ver? I have it from Epic. I also have disabled Epic overlay, just in case.
    I have rtx2080

IF YOU HAVE CRASH BEFORE THE SHADER COMPILATION, OR THE GAME DOESNT EVEN OPEN:

1 -Download driver 528.50 (or under) from the files section
2 -Remove with DDU your latest driver
3 -Install 528.50, dont start the game yet
4 -At in: \AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\ Remove all folders and pc_info.json if exists, but leave SaveGames folder there.
5 -In SaveGames folder, delete this file:

    SavedUserOptions.sav

    6 -Open C:\ProgramData (hidden folder at C:\)
    7 -Delete HogwartsLegacy folder
8 -Follow instructions from the main page to Install vulkan files.
9 -Now you can play the game without stutters, DLSS and RT disabled.

OBS: Check or apply Shader Cache 10gb or above that in your Nvidia Control panel.
For amd cards: No idea lmao.

GAME WORKS WITHOUT ANY STUTTER NOW

This is a major workaround and the textures and text end up glitching bad after about 5 minutes after gameplay. Its a good attempt because it does help textures load faster for a 4gb vram system but ultimately needs to be uninstalled for now. Also the Windows key crashes the game.

Why can't it be used with DLSS or Ray traicing? My gpu is quite capable of both but for some reason in DX12 the game uses only 40% of my gpu and 35 of my cpu but my fps go below 60, they are never stable, with vulkan my fps are always above 60 except occasionally, but i noticed that it uses much more gpu even in areas where with DX12 my fps were at 60, so i can't play in native resolution because sometimes my fps go below 60 because the gpu reaches 99%, i don't want to lower the graphics of the game, so i wanted to use dlss and try raytraicing at the same time.

Thank you for this mod. It worked wonders for me on a 3060 ti with ReShade on, no more stutters, butter smooth on High/Ultra. No DLSS but you still have FSR if you need to get a few more frames. Endorsed.

    Hi there,

if you're having trouble getting the game to run at all - as in, the screen stays black or the game immediately crashes back to desktop - this might be a possible fix for you:

    1. Open up the Windows registry editor
    2. Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Khronos\Vulkan]
    3. BACKUP EVERYTHING UNDER THIS KEY!! (i.e. right-click on the "Vulkan" folder and choose to export)
    4. Delete values found under "ImplicitLayers" one by one, especially if you don't recognize their names; test if the game runs
    5. If step 4 was unsuccessful, delete values found under "ExplicitLayers" one by one, until it either works or both folders are empty
(needless to say, if all of the above didn't work, you should restore the backed up registry entries)

The reason this might work - and why it worked for me - is because the Vulkan API is rather finicky about pretty much everything. Some 3rd party applications, most notably Steam, Origin/EA App, OBS Studio, Discord etc. are likely to install what's called one or more "Validation Layers" to make their ingame overlays work.

Sometimes, when updating / uninstalling / reinstalling those apps, the layers aren't removed properly and/or some leftovers remain that potentially make calls to the Vulkan API produce errors. Those errors may in return cause hangs or even crashes.

After I removed the layers for both OBS (that I never use on my gaming PC) as well as for Mirillis Action (which is a screen recording program that I'm also not really using anymore) I was able to run the game no problem, using the provided DXVK files.

Potential drawback: if it turns out you had to remove a layer that's still in use by one of your applications, that application might not be able to hook into Vulkan-based games anymore (without reinstalling). Try to see if there's an updated version of the application which doesn't create faulty layers.

    Cheers

Glad to hear this works for a lot of players but unfortunately it did not for me.

After installing, dlss and rt have been disabled but the game stutters even more for me, even in areas that it did not before. The fps has gone down quite a bit as well. And somehow the mod makes my GPU and CPU usage & temp skyrocket.

IDK if it helps but I noticed that after following all steps in the guide, my game did not compile any shader whatsoever.

Do you have the “skip shader compilation” mod installed by any chance?

No I did not apply that mod. If only there is a way to force compile on my next game boot up :(
