I don't understand why the comparison pictures are never quite in the same spot and in one of the "off" ones you are moving whereas in the "on" one you are not. Makes it harder to compare.

because it's not possible to synchronize the videos. There are 2 different videos made. Unlike you see in all videos on youtube, videos comparison  are fake doing same exact moment and position. Fakes. here are different videos

The visuals look cleaner and sharper. Question for me is what will it do for my older mid-range PC and older 16gig Rx 580 GPU that at best handles the game at medium settings on a 1920x1080 monitor?

Making a comparison with locked FPS makes actually no sense. Please redo that process, regardless of why you lock the FPS (personal taste, aspect, whatever).
Most of us do infact unlock the FPS for obvious quality reasons.

Maybe it is hard to understand or to see that there is no comparison fps here. It is a visual improvement preset. I did not make this reshade preset for fps. The fps monitor its for my personal use and has no purpose  for the preset.

I don't think Nanite means what you think it means... Nanite is a UE5 technology that has to be enabled per object in the engine, AFAIK, its not something that can be activated in UE4 with a shader, so I'm struggling to see how the use of the word applies here unless its use is intended to be misleading.

don't use it if you do not like the name lol. Use nanite from unreal engine. :P.
If you know what is nanite from unreal engine than you realize that is not misleading anything. And because it is titled Reshade preset and is in this section of modding.

Since this game is on UE, I click on your reshade only because it's called "nanite" and I was curious if u enable it somehow. so no, the name is 100% misleading since ppl connect your reshade name to actual Unreal Engine optimize function.

I guess you have to deal with it. Its a reshade preset. It requires reshade. Nanite reshade.

Reshade and nanite are two different things. They don't even deal with the same function. Reshade is about camera filters. Nanite is about rendering. You're thinking of Lumin.

I'd say that despite being misleading it's not really a big deal but you didn't even get the names right.

There is always a bad comment on your topics, but it's not going to be me making one. I guess I have to get used to it. Who likes it doesn't care what is called, it just takes it and uses it. But some don't care preset reshade quality, they just have to do a bad comment. They just feel better after. Anyway, it's just a reshade preset. Nanite or whatever is called

I know that. In fact, i play only at 60fps  for smooth gameplay and better quality for my eyes. You can always choose 166 fps for your eyes.
