    This is literally the perfect cover for protecting the statute of secrecy. If Harry and Ron had flown a space saucer instead of car the pictures would have been printed in the sham / fake news newspapers and they wouldn't have gotten in trouble for being seen by muggles.
    
    All the witnesses would be dismissed as crazy conspiracy theorists.
