Hey guys! I hope you'll enjoy this simple yet must-have mod (at least for me).
As stated in the description, I won't accept any request of modifying the background music to something else, as this is not the scope of the mod. Let me know if there are any issues - there shouldn't be any!
modifying is out of the scope, but how about expanding the list of music silenced? I just want the only music to play is the ones that the floating instruments such as the halls outside the undercroft or around hogsmeade plays
I've already done a mod like this in Fallout 4, for example. It got rid of basically every random explore music in order to improve immersion even more. Problem with Hogwarts Legacy is that the modders still miss a comprehensive list of every soundfx, dialogue or song. In the game files, they are named with a random string of numbers, so at the moment the only way to find the one you're looking for is basically go and listen through all of them - which would become a truly hard task, if you're pointing at several targets at once. Plus, I'm still in Fall season in my gameplay, and I've heard several new songs while exploring that weren't during Summer - so I wouldn't even be capable to actually pinpoint all of the background music and exclude the tracks that come from an actual physical source in the game.
As a further yet personal reason, I'm ok with the soundtrack. There are many moments without background music while exploring, so when the song actually kicks in it's just a nice touch to the ambiance and it's not as repetitive. I like to put HL midway between the constant 5-6 songs looping in Bethesda games like Fallout or Skyrim, and the subtle musical accents of Red Dead Redemption 2 (which is state of the art for me).
Yea I totally wish the background music while roaming the world could be eliminated. If you turn off the music sound the sounds of nature in the game are excellent and really relaxing. but then that removes all music. Its kinda sad to pass the musician with the instruments and not hear anything.
This is a game changer for me. I had to turn off the music every time I was in the Room of Requirement. Same with Hogsmeade. I got tired of that which meant I mostly played without music.
I can't believe how many games have this issue and devs never seem to even think of it. Menu music is a big issue for me in most games. I'll start hearing while trying to fall asleep, drives me crazy.
I'm glad you liked it! Happened to me as well, especially if I play for a long session during the day, it's like that music I am not giving attention to suddenly starts to haunt my mind. It started resonating in my head at night... and that was the moment I knew I had to invest some time into learning how to mod Hogwarts Legacy.
Music should only add to ambience, but never hide it!
Vivarium Musics are great. If i may ask, how do you modify and create these .pak files? is it through Unreal engine from Epic? if yes then which version? Thanks in advance.
There's no need to use Unreal Engine if you only want to modify audio files. I suggest you to hop into the discord modding community and join us, you'll find plenty of support!
