Introduction

Are you sick of flying around the map spamming Revelio and hoping you have found all of the Merlin Trials?

Since the game doesn't have a tracker for the Trials, it can be a royal pain trying to find them all. This mod will locate the nearest uncompleted Merlin Trial and map your path to it. You can now quickly find and complete all the Trials and get your extra loot slots.

~~~~
Thank you to icouldifiwantedto for his help with this mod and for writing the Field Guide Page Finder, Collection Chest Finder and Demiguise Finder mods on which this one is based.
If y
ou already completed the Trial
I don't know if this ever happens, but if you're led to a Trial which is already completed you can tell the mod to ignore it using Shift-F10.
      Please be absolutely sure it has been looted because this process cannot currently be reversed.
Installation
You should be able to install the mod automatically using Vortex, but it can be a bit unreliable with Hogwarts Legacy mods:
  • Download and unzip the contents of zKA-MerlinTrialFinder-11102_P.zip to your Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods folder
             If the ~mods folder doesn't exist, you will need to create it
  • Install Blueprint Apparate Modloader if you haven't already
  • Start Hogwarts Legacy and load your most recent save-file
  • Press the F8 key, type KA-MerlinTrialFinder and hit Enter
  • If KA-MerlinTrialFinder stays on the top line, then either:
               a) the .utoc, .ucas and .pak files were placed in the wrong folder
               b) one of your existing mods is already using pakchunk 11102
                   (use the PakChunk Checker designed by icouldifiwantedto to verify a conflict)
Usage
  • De-select any active missions
  • Press the F10 key and follow the path
  • If you change your mind and don't want to find the Trial press Alt-F10
Default Key Bindings
By default this mod uses the following key bindings:
  • F10 = Find the nearest uncompleted Merlin Trial
  • Alt-F10 = Cancel the search
  • SHIFT-F10  = Mark the current Trial as already completed
Custom Key Bindings
You can change the key bindings to anything you like as follows:
  • Go to your Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor folder and edit Input.ini
  • Search for KA-Trial and change the keybind (shown in green) to whatever you want (key names can be found here)
  • Restart the game
ActionMappings=(ActionName="KA-TrialAbandon",bShift=False,bCtrl=False,bAlt=True,bCmd=False,Key=F10,GroupName="",SortIndex=0)
ActionMappings=(ActionName="KA-TrialCompleted",bShift=True,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False,Key=F10,GroupName="",SortIndex=0)
ActionMappings=(ActionName="KA-TrialSearch",bShift=False,bCtrl=False,bAlt=False,bCmd=False,Key=F10,GroupName="",SortIndex=0)
How to Un-Install
If you installed manually:
     Delete the zKA-MerlinTrialFinder-11102_P .utoc, .ucas, and .pak from the ~mods folder.
If you installed it via Vortex:
     Disable or uninstall it via Vortex BUT also check that it's gone from the ~mods folder afterwards
Conflicts
This mod uses pakchunk 11102 - if there is a conflict, you can fix it using the Chunk ID Conflict Manager
Known Issues
The following are known issues. If you encounter others please let me know in the POSTS section.
  • If you have a mission selected the path can randomly switch from the Merlin Trial back to your mission. This is a game bug.
  • If you mount your broom the path will disappear. This is a game "feature" which can't currently be disabled. The work-around is to manually place a purple "waymarker" close to the location of the Trial and follow that.
  • You can only search for a Merlin Trial while you are in an 'overland' area (i.e. - not in a dungeon, Ancient Magic trial, etc.).
  • The "finder" mods, which are based on the ones written by icouldifiwantedto, were not originally designed to be installed together. If you are using multiple finder mods, in certain instances they can wrestle for control of the mini-map path and cause it to stop showing in the game. This is being researched and addressed, but in the meantime, just be very careful about switching back and forth between the different mods/abandoning the searches in quick succession.
