NOTE: This shader was NOT DESIGNED for HDR mode. Please turn-off your HDR mode or Auto-HDR from your screen (Monitor/TV). Since there are too many HDR standard (from real HDR to fake HDR screen, from HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby, etc.); and I'm still confuse which one standard that I should use; so I decide to make this for SDR
Beside subjective of personal taste/preference, I knew that so many type and models of Monitors/TVs out there. LCD/LED/OLED/QLED ; IPS/TN/VA... etc.And they have their own characteristic (from neutral colors to vibrant colors, high to low gamma/black levels/white point, etc).
Therefore I made a simple adjustment UI for this mod. You can adjust Dark Level, Light Intensity, Color Saturation, etc.by press END keyboard button to show-up Reshade UI. Just adjust the value to matching with your current screen (Monitor/TV) profile or fit with your taste/liking.
Turn down Light Intensity (to zero or less) and Increase the Dark Level value higher; if its may too bright in your screen. Turn-down Color Saturation value if you feels the color is too strong for you, or increase it if you think the color is too weak.... and so on. ;)
Keep in mind this is a custom shader, not just a regular Reshade preset. With this custom shader You can create your own various presets based on this custom shader (by press "+" (plus symbol) button on the top right corner from UI).
** Example from screenshot above: Shader value for non-OLED display : Dark Level = +0.155; Light Intensity = + 0.090; Color Saturation = + 0.231
Happy gaming and cheers,
Chris
Rev. History: - Version 1.0 = Initial Release - Version 1.01 = added Sharpness slider (Set it to -1.000 to completely disabled it)
Q: can it run with Ray-Tracing? A: Of course, it even can give you a hyper-realistic look. But keep in mind, enabled Ray-tracing would very taxing your GPU resource and performance. So, make sure you have a beefy GPU for it (e.g NVIDIARTX 4090)
This is an example screenshot with Ray-Tracing enabled:
tips: - if you cannot save your own shader settings value to default/example preset file (crubino.ini) ~ caused by Windows user-access right restricted (it may return with red text message said that you cannot writing data to the current path; then you may create a new preset by preset + (plus) button on the top right corner from UI. Name it with your prefer file name (e.g Hogwarts.ini). And then adjust the shader value (Dark Level, Light Intensity, Color Saturation, etc.) as you like it. After that; you may delete my example preset file (crubino.ini) if you don't need it anymore.
- If you are using NVIDIA RTX card and pursuit for high fps, I recommended to using DLSS; and replace DLSS run time file (nvngx_dlss.dll) with DLSS 2.5.1.x version to replace DLSS file that come with game installer (The game originally is using an older DLSS version 2.3.x). This new DLSS 2.5.1.x has better image quality (no ghosting effects) andmore stable performance. You can get the newer DLSS update file from TechPowerUp (TPU) website: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/
This is impressive, it adds an immense amount of detail. Can this not be done with traditional reshade?
just a few problems with it though.
I play on 4K resolution and the the shader UI is way too tiny to see, it also makes text both in game and on the UI harder to read. and lastly they is a tad too much purple tint. Other than that it is a nice looking visual enhancer/reshade whatever it is.
Please turn-off your HDR thing; that purple tint noticeable if you are using HDR mode ON. Since this version actually designed only for SDR (non-HDR) screen. It only working well with SDR color range.
For HDR version (based on LG screen standard HDR) and 3D stereoscopic mode also with more crazy photo-realistic shaders passes; it's only available on my Patreon VVIP (VVIP not VIP only) member. Yeah, it's very niche group who need these features and but it also will need higher GPU and CPU specs for it.
for UI with 4K, you can go to its "settings" tab, scroll down until you see "overlay settings" you can set font size from there. Just increase the font size number somewhere between 16 to 24.
every other time i launch, your other weird files get added back in somehow and that weird newer menu "restricted" keeps breaking my stuff, so i have to delete, and reinstall every time why
- make sure you already clean-up all Reshade files before apply this (this mod would be conflict with any Reshade; no matter what. So do not mixed it). - DO NOT change any default hot keys that I already made. - to save your shader value if you get restricted writing, please read on tips above.
- Right click on game folder then right click on it, select "Properties", then click on "Edit" button. Give check mark "Full Control" on Allow check box for Authenticated Users and Users group like in my screen-shot below:
sorry I don't recommended that since that vignette shader is chained with other shaders. And the reason I've put that vignette effect is to fix a "Skylight" bug from the game. Some people who are using UltraWide-screen (21:9) or Super-UltraWide Scren (32:9) will see some wierd light in sky sphere border, and my shader will fix it with this vignette chained to skylight shader.
But if you insist, then I've uploaded a patch for it, you may download it from "Miscellaneous files" on this page. This is an optional patch to remove vignette from my main version. just drag n drop file to my folder: \simple-realistic\Shader\ folder, and overwrite the older one.
But once again, if you are running with UltraWide screen I don't recommended to remove my vignette shading.
I did :P I finally got it to appear had to do it a completely diffrent way but I got it. Dont' think I could play without after seeing how much prettier it made the water alone look/the darker tone it gives the castle instead of making it look washed out.
Yupe, of course for my preferred set, who else? ;) I just want to share, NOT serve =)) I cannot tell you whats the ideal. since it depends with your screen profile and you liking.
if you have non-OLED screen, you may increase the Dark Level value slightly.
I'm a little confused how to set up. From your instructions, does "clean up your reshade files" mean delete them? Don't have reshade installed? I thought it might mean "have a clean reshade install," so I'm confused by "do not run the reshade installer." I downloaded reshade to use this and don't understand the difference between a custom shader and a reshade preset, or how to use them.

I have Nvidia DLSS enabled with a 3060ti. With the shader enabled, I seem to be seeing a fair hit to my performance and the game becomes choppy. Turning off the preset game works fine again. Anything can be done to make the performance better with the preset enabled? The mod definitely makes the game look much more pleasing.

Yeah, RT is Off for all 3 - Reflection, Shadows and Ambient). Resolution is 3840x2160 with Nvidia DLSS Performance. The rendering Resolution in the game hence shows 1920x1080 - 50%. For me the game is running a lot better without the shader.
I'm sorry, my shader might not running too well for a 3060ti@4K even with DLSS ;) Ideally, a 3060ti even with DLSS enabled is not for 4K daily gaming. So, there is nothing I can do with it.

do i need to do anything else? i extracted to 64 in phoenix, removed anything else.
FIXED IT! ty
Thanks for your work.

This mod for people with simple mind like my-self ;)

What is your current resolution? Did you disable Ray-tracing? What is your DLSS mode (quality, balanced, performance)?
