Did you install the mod correctly? Including the MANIFEST folder?

Unfortunately, this mod isn't working for me.  I manually installed your files, but all other mods were installed using Vortex.  I've attempted running the .bat with the mods in their respective Vortex folders, and with mod files directly placed in the ~mods folder, but that hasn't addressed the issue.  Any ideas?

    • Double-clicking flashes the cmd window for a sec and vanishes.
    • Launching CMD, to run it manually, states...
"Number of cooked mods found = 'find' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

    • If I run it as Admin, it states...
Error - Required program "C:\Windows\system32\MANIFEST\sed\sed.exe" is missing. Please check your PakChunkChecker installation.

    • If I move the MANIFEST folder to system 32, and try again, it states...
Number of cooked mods found = 0

Only cooked mods have pakchunks so you have no conflicts.
Cooked mods are the ones with utoc and ucas files.

The first of your errors, about the 'find' command has been reported by a few people. I don't know why that's happening. It's a Windows problem. Something to do with your default PATH I think. If you edit the PakChunkChecker.bat file you might be able to fix this by replacing find in line 23 with C:\Windows\System32\find . If that doesn't work just delete lines 21-23 from the batch file. They're not important. Let me know if the rest of the batch file runs okay.

The second of your errors is because PakChunkChecker.bat assumes it's being run from the ~mods folder. After you open your CMD window to run the batch file manually you need to cd to your ~mods folder. Then run PakChunkChecker.bat.

The third of your errors is also because PakChunkChecker.bat assumes it's being run from the ~mods folder. If you run it from the CMD window's default folder (which is C:\Windows\system32) it won't find any mods because there aren't any mods in that folder.

I seem to have the exact same problems with this version. I do run PakChunkChecker.bat directly from within my ~mods-folder.

Like preus, I had to move my manifest-folder to Windows\system32, otherwise it would claim it could not find the required files, even though they are clearly there.

Edit: I actually found a solution for this: It might sound ridiculous, but the solution (at least for me) was NOT running the bat-file as an administrator. I am soo used to run all bat-files and most exe's as administrators, that I did this here as well. Just double-clicking on the file inside the ~mods-folder works perfect.

Oh! Interesting! I think you may have cracked it. If you run CMD as Admin it will start with C:\Windows\System32\ as the working folder instead of ~mods. Then the batch file won't work correctly. Don't run the CMD as Administrator and hopefully all will be well.

Hi, for some reason when I run it, it's just a never-ending stream that keeps going down and down. I don't see any read or nothing, just a constant load of files that don't stop. Any ideas?

Just a quick question; Can I leave the .bat files (Mod/PakChecker) and the Manifest folder in the ~mods folder or should I remove them before playing?

And thanks for the mod(s), did what it was supposed to do.

You can leave them. I have mine in there permanently. I run them every time I install a mod, just to make sure there are no problems.

I have a lot of subfolders in my ~mods folder so I thought that might be the problem but whenever I use the chunk checker it ends up with infinite spam that looks like this:

Could you create a zip of your ~mods folder, upload it to a free file-sharing website like mega.nz and then send me a link to that file? I'll use that to reproduce the error to determine the cause. Thanks!

Hello and thanks for the Mod! I just have a question about the Folder "MANIFEST". I already installed and used your other other Checker - The Mod Merger Checker, so when i install this one what shoould i do? Just add the .bat file or merge the new MANIFEST folder too?
I'm asking this since i saw that you wrote that in case i want to delete this one, i should watch out for the Manifest folder in case i don't want to break the Mod Merger Checker

Thanks so much for this! I've only been playing for a week or so but am familiar with Skyrim modding. Still getting the hang of how this game works. Are you saying that everything can go into Paks\~mods and not just ones that specify that folder?

Yes all mods should go in the Paks\~mods folder. (The only exception is UE4SS-based LUA mods which go in Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Binaries\Win64\Mods). You can put mods into sub-folders of ~mods if you like, but it's a bit risky because the name of the sub-folder will change the load order which might stop the mod from working. Back in the early days some people suggested putting mods into the Paks folder instead of Paks\~mods. But that's not a good idea either because that changes the load order too, and my Mod Merger Checker can't check mods in the Paks folder.

Almost all mods will work straight out the box if you install them as instructed in the mod's description. But on very rare occasions you might happen to have a particular combination of mods where the load order needs to be changed. If so, leave the mods files in Paks\~mods but change the mod filenames. Pre-pending a z to a mod's filenames will make that mod load later, which usually gives it a higher priority. (That's why you will see z's so often in mod file names.) But there are certain types of mod (appearance mods which only edit face/gear "Data Assets" or Textures) which need to be loaded earlier than everything else. (Nobody knows why.) For those you need to add a ! to the front of the filename.

Thank you SO much for the insight. I'm confident I wouldn't have gathered this info just by browsing on Nexus, so that was huge. I'm also using Vortex instead of MO2 for the first time, so I've been fighting with it lol. I was installing manually but it became such a headache that I'm trying to make it work. The archives are set up in all sorts of ways so there's subfolders and multiple options in many of them, but at least now I know the guidelines to make everything work. Thanks again! edit: to be clear, I know this is manually installed lol.

If you're using Vortex then you can change the load order using Vortex. Just be aware that Vortex doesn't always disable/delete mods correctly, so check your ~mods folder from time to time. If a mod is still in ~mods (or any sub-folder of ~mods) then it's still installed even if Vortex says it isn't.

Yup, I'm learning how to add rules and such. And I found out myself that it has all of these quirks with deleting content while trying to get rid of the extra data in the archives after installation. Certain things would bug the ~mod folder out until I restarted Vortex, and I thought deleting stuff in the staging folder would reflect what gets deployed after purging then redeploying but that hasn't been the case. Anyway, I'll figure it out eventually. Learning to use Vortex will help me out with other games that don't have MO support anyway. Thanks again, this has been so helpful.

There is only one line of red words in the list. What does that mean? Conflict with who?Number of cooked mods found = 20
Below are the PackageID's for the mods in this folder and all sub-folders.
The PackageID is a hashed version of the pakchunk used to cook the mod.
If two mods have the same PackageID then they used the same pakchunk.
Any mods shown in red conflict with the previous mod in the list.

The line in red conflicts with the previous line. So zNoBoostDecayX2_P conflicts with DotRet_P. As you can see, they both have PackageID=13469432588922263907, which means they both have the same pakchunk.
