I know this is probably a really dumb question, but does this mod also affect NPCs or is this just for player characters? I figure since they're outfit replacers they would show up for everyone but I just wanted to check!
Hello I just found out this mod as I was just starting to play HL and I'm loving it! My apologies for the sudden request but is it possible for you to also mod the traditional school robe? Like exactly the one that the NPCs are wearing. I noticed that the MC's robes have only 2 stripes on the sleeves but you can clearly see the three stripe outline beneath it. Perhaps make it three stripes instead of two? Also, the pin holding the robe also isn't black in vanilla but dark brown. I know I'm really, really being nitpicky here and I'm sorry lol I just really want to blend in like the normal students in the game. I don't really want to wear the other glams other than the plain robes and the uniform and these minor differences really gets in my nerves. 😭 thanks a lot btw! ❤️❤️❤️
It will be possible in near future to change all this weird heavy shooes with the one like in the very start of the game? it is looking weird when i wear breaches with this schooes.
I like this mod, because I "hate" breeches. I know that they were fashionable at the time, but seriously there are too many of them in this game. Like spiders.
I really like the breeches for the school uniform, but yes there are a lot of them for the "outdoors" outfits (and I think 1890's men would more likely wear pants instead of breeches outside school)!
Great mod, but actually in the 1890s (school or outside of school) breeches were super 'in' for teenage boys (historian here). Dunno why, but they were!
Thank you! As a fashion history amateur, I had a hard time finding references for young men's attire in the 1890s! From my research, it seemed that breeches were mainly worn for practical activities such as school, cycling and sports, and not for formal outfits. But I understand that they were popular for everyday wear! I still have a lot to learn (especially for the men's fashion) so thank you for sharing your knowledge! :D
Very welcome! I'm a weirdo who was/is a theater professor who then got my PhD in history because my disciplinary specialization is the works of Shaw and Wilde, so I know an absurd amount about the late 19th century! :)
If you get interested, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London has a great resource/collection on late 19th century fashion...not a lot of great resources online, but the museum itself is a treasure-trove.
The latest version of the school uniforms mod seems just about perfect, at least as much as the models allow! I do have a few suggestions for additions.
The plaid blazer/formal uniform has a lining on the collar of the jacket that's a lighter color than the rest of the jacket, which appears on some NPC's but the characters who use this suit seem to have a lining that matches the pattern of the rest of the jacket. I don't know that this would be easy to retexture, if even possible since I believe those characters use models which are entirely distinctive. Regardless, the current version is worn by several generic NPC's so it's perfectly fine for now, only reason I'd want to see this (as an alternate version) is the colorization looks a little weird peaking under the robe.
A seperate mod or addition including unique NPC uniforms would be interesting, though difficult since I believe they're all one solid model. For example, Arthur Plummly's unique outfit from Hufflepuff (has a bowtie instead of a regular tie) would be an awesome outfit to have. Not sure the implementation is possible however, and you may not consider it in the scope of the mod.
Finally, and most simply, the Quidditch Robe's color seems paler than the NPC's, the same as the original ties for the uniforms were. A slight change would be very appreciated. There's also a variation of the normal house tie worn by the NPC's that use this model which is a different color, which would be an interesting addition as an alternative style.
Regardless of whether you choose to attempt any of these requests, thank you for this wonderful mod. In its current state it perfectly does what it is meant to do.
Noticed the tie for Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw seem to be off compared to NPC's, they're slightly paler. Not too noticeable, except when wearing an outer robe since the patch and lining contrast it. Slytherin and Gryffindor look perfect though! Also, a companion mod or additional file modifying the Hogwarts robes to better match the NPC's would also be amazing. Regardless of either, wonderful job and thanks so much!
Oh I'll look into it, thank you for letting me know! For the robe, I wanted to try having the 3 strikes on the sleeves instead of 2, but it's more complex than I thought ;_; In the meantime, I'll see if I need to correct the colour of the hood.
Thanks and you're welcome!
EDIT: Fixed the ties and the inner hood colours for the traditional school robe (the Slytherin one was very off ._.)!
I've played the new version a bit today, looks great but there are a few small details that are a little off. The color of the new hood looks good, but is still slightly different than students, I believe the lining of the Distinguished Robes are closer. The new color is a tad bit darker than the students. Alongside that, the lining of the hood was changed but the inner lining, as in the lining on the flaps of the cloak and in the sleeves are still the original color. The hufflepuff tie seems to still be a little off, but I believe that may just be the lighting maps of the player character being different than the NPC's, which I've heard before from some modders. Sorry to be so demanding with these requests, these are all minor issues which are hardly noticeable to anyone who isn't as annoyingly pedantic as me. Thank you for all of your work!
I picked the colors directly from Garreth, Poppy, Ominis and Amit outfits and robe. But it's likely that the outfits colors of our classmates are slighlty different from the generic NPC students. Even between Amit and Everett there is a very slight difference on the tie! -_- The devs didn't really care about those details unfortunatly.
However, I must confess that I only checked the inner hood, and not the inner robe! I didn't notice, but the NPC have the same ID for both, whereas the player have 2 differents. I'll make a small update ASAP :)

This is a great idea!
Appreciate the options you provide here, though!
