    If you're having troubles:

    1. If you're using several mods that change inputs - you will have conflicts. This is why Mouse Controls for Broom was specifically mentioned and updated for compatibility with this one. We can do for our mods, but doing it for every other mod out there is not realistic - a convenient tool to merge edited inputs is needed here.

    2. When updating you might have issues with inputs - if something feels off, reset to defaults. If it's still off, remember Steam cloud and try going offline and reset.

    3. There are three controller loadouts provided with the mod: vanilla (best used with hold mode for the camera) and two remaps (best used with toggle mode). Try and pick the one that is comfortable for you.

Only downloaded this mod and Mouse Controls for Broom. Both work as detailed and I did follow instructions to the dot, however I'm running into an issue with this mod specifically. I have the FreeLookCamHold version and when in the Room of Requirement, suppose I'm in the middle of placing an object, if I happen to tap the hotkey by accident, it disables all controls except character movement, forcing me to restart the game and undo progress in the Room.

If any more information is needed, I'll be glad to supply it. This mod would be SUPER convenient and helpful with placing objects in the Room, if this little bug could be resolved. I hope it's just me though, and that maybe I need to tweak something.

Installed FreeLookCamToggle and zBroomFreeLookControlsRemap_P and activated FreeLookCamMod in Apparate. The controls scheme changed succesfully on gamepad, but pressing Y or any other gampad button does not toggle the free look camera. It works when I press left Alt, but on the gamepad it just doesn't.

I don't have other input mods and I reset the inputs to default, but nothing worked. I suppose I should chalk it up to bad luck. At least the alternate controls are a nice improvement.

Is there supposed to be a camera offset when I activate this mod? how can I remove or revert it?

Wonderful mod! I have a thought to consider:

It seems that the main issue is not the controls, so much as the lack of context. While flying, you have either two modes, hovering, or flying forward. This mod is wonderful for flying forward, but now hovering feels awkward, because fine adjustments can no longer be performed with the left stick, only turning. What we need is contextual switching.

However, the solution is already built into this mod with toggle functionality! While holding R2, the mod could activate, moving pitch controls to the left stick, and while hovering, the left stick could be left alone, allowing for precise and intuitive hovering controls.

This leaves the issue of elevation. However, I argue the game already has a bit of a solution for that. B is descend / dismount already, while Y is unused. Therefore, Y could be ascend. Shoulder buttons could be left alone, or modified for additional functionality.

This leaves the right stick free at all times for the camera!

I will look into creating this, but please let me know if you want to make it. I'm certain you could do a better job, and much faster, too.

How difficult is it to mod something like this?  I would love to try different options.

I made a mod using Fmodel and UnrealPak. I reverse engineered parts of this mod. It's very primitive. I don't know how to use Blueprint and I don't really have the time to learn.

Yeah learning blueprints looks like a pretty big task. I've DM'd you on discord with a quick question though...

Thanks!  I might look into it.

Are you able to see that it's something we can change with the FOV?  As pointed out below, when toggling the mod on, the POV pulls further out and pushes your character more to the left.  I would like the freecam toggle to just keep the POV default.

I might be able to look into it, but ideally that would be an option provided by the creator.

I agree.  The mod creator does actually have it in his notes that I figure has to do with the POV changing:
"Camera parameters can be adjusted in the future - work in progress"

Unfortunately, being that the mod hasn't been updated since March and he's moved onto other games, it's hard to say when or if he's ever coming back.

Okay, let me start off saying that I do really like the idea of the left stick just being the normal vanilla slow movement, and then while hitting the sprint (R2), the left stick turns into the way it functions in this mod.

But here's another idea if that's too complicated... What about putting the slow movements onto the d-pad?  Assuming you can duplicate controls.  I'm not sure how smooth it will feel, but it would probably be more natural than having left and right, forward and backward all separated from eachother.

Now the problem with relying on ascend/descend on B & Y, is that you ideally want to be able to control the free camera (right thumb), the slow movement (left thumb), and the ability to ascend and descend all at the same time.  But the shoulder buttons are free now, right?  So why not just put them there?

Possibly the only issue with this might be that the D-Pad existing controls would need to be moved to X, Y, and A.

So assuming we can't have on-the-fly switching the left analog stick functionality between vanilla slow movement, and this mod's fast movement, this is what I'm proposing:

LEFT STICK: Ascend, Descend, Left, Right
      RIGHT STICK: Free Camera
D-PAD: Slow movement (forward, back, left, right)
      RIGHT SHOULDER: Descend
      LEFT SHOULDER: Ascend
      B: Dismount
      A: Revelio spell
      X: Quest info
      Y: Controls tip

If the Y button is still be needed for activation, I suppose the only thing that could be done there is simply not have any button for the controls tip.  I wouldn't think it would be necessary anyway.

Granted, I still think your idea of having the left stick simply alternate between controls would probably be better.  Although I would still suggest the ascend and descend be on the shoulder buttons, so they can be used at the same time as the slow movement and free camera.

Something like this would require extensive use of Blueprint, at the very least, which I am not capable of. My own mod is very, very basic.

Currently, this is the most advanced flight mod available. Anything more is beyond current capabilities.

Is the camera supposed to be at a weird angle when using FreeLookCamToggle? If so is it possible to change to the vanilla camera position and still be able to freely look around?

I guess you're having the same issue I am.  It makes it hard to race because it not only pulls the camera further back, changing the POV, but it pushes your character off to the left, making it harder to aim precisely where you need to go.

This mod is a great first step.  Mad kudos to you @r457!  The initial remap controls make the game work almost exactly how I would have envisioned a flight/mount mechanic should work.  The main issue I'm having at the moment is that the camera angle pulling back makes it more difficult to race, as your character is now off to the left at an odd POV.  For general flight, though, it works fine.

No UE4SS version? It already has BPLoader inside it. Hope you can release a UE4SS version.

For the Toggle version you need BOTH FreeLookCamToggle (The actual mod. Unsure why it's under optional) and zBroomFreeLookControls_P (Gives option to change Keybinding, but even though i pressed the default button, LAlt, then FreeLookCamToggle would not work without zBroomFreeLookControls_P.

I have added blueprint apparate and the mod file to SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\mods folder but cannot get the mod to work. I can get text box appear by pressing F8 but when I write the "FreeLookCamMod" and press enter nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, exact same thing happened to me... I dl the blueprint apparate, can get the Window to appear when I type F8, but when I type FreeLookCamMod nothing appears.
Also, the new control does appear in my list, but when flying nothing happens if I press the key... the mouse doesn't go up/down

Hi, so I figured out how to make it work :
(FYI , I wanted Free Look Cam mod alone, without Mouse Controls for Broom Mod)

(- 1st install the BluePrint apparate mod (duh))

      - I installed the Mouse Controls for Broom mod first, then installed the free look camera mod (1st version - FreeLookCamHold, the one compatible with Mouse Controls for Broom mod)
      - then verified all was working : it was!   Both the mouse controls AND the free look with LeftAlt (I typed 'freelookcammod' in blueprint)
      - then DISABLED mouse controls by deleting 'zBroomMouseInverted_P.pak' from my install files (.../paks), but kept everything else
      - ... then it was working ! Free Look Cam with LeftAlt, WITHOUT mouse controls.

So it seems I used the wrong file : zBroomMouseInverted_P.pak (contains 1 pak file) when I should have used FreeLookCamHold (contains 3 files : pak, ucas, utoc)

      Hopes this helps ;)
