love the mod! just a heads up that you loose 50 Mercers per NPC in Freelancer, even if it was the guards that killed them. can get expensive fast in Marrakesh and Paris xD
No, cause i use Atamby's No Crowdsmod without any that kind of problem, that mod remove all crowds. I think crowd's are not really real NPCs in game, they are kind off backround thing like sounds, they are there, but they not doing anything else than hanging around there. It's always real NPC who go to alarm guard and thing, not anyone else from crowds, it can see how it works when use mods like Killer Insticand Pure Instic..
You have no clue how the fake ai works. They relay info like normal npcs too but they are not individually programmed to run to guards, have their own voicelines, etc. Think of them as one big blob of a single NPC but they cant move. If theres a crowd and one fake npc on one end of a wall saw you acting illegaly, that info can be relayed to the other fake npcs on the other side of this crowd of npcs. And if a real npc stands next to that crowd, even though he didnt see you, He will seem to "magically know" what happened but thats not magic. The info just has been relayed to that npc but without the additional voicelines of an actual NPC telling them what they saw or The guard reacting to that info (bc fake npcs cant talk and all that). That info involves the type of activity and your disguise. Theyre like a hivemind of ai. Only acts like murder will be relayed i believe, some will get a reaction too, like pulling out a gun but thats only artificial for game immersion purposes
You have completely misunderstood the point of this discussion and you are the one who is not understanding what is being talked about and how scoring works in this game. I know perfectly well that these are fake npcs and that you can commit crimes or hold weapons in front of them and they won't react because they are not real npcs, and guards npcs will then "magically" check the place as a workaround to this limitation.
What I was debating here was whether or not the fake npcs dying from the shots would could as non target npcs killed. The reason why I was wondering this is because in the normal game, killing a crowd fake npc results in non target killed, even if they are not real npcs. And because they can't be subdued, hitting the offensive action on them (which just punches them) kills them as well.
Because (unlike you) I actually understand how these npcs works and how the game functions in general, I suspected that them dying from guard shots would get pinned on you and get you non target killed. The reason why I suspected this is because when any npc dies in the world, it is pinned on you. And non target killed applies to crowd fake npcs as well, something that you clearly do not know or understand.
I just tested it on marrakesh and yes, the crowd fake npcs that died from the shots during gunfights got pinned on me and I got non target killed (as if I had shot them basically). I am fine with this becasuse it adds a punishment for going in crowd fights and makes sense that 47 getting people killed is penalized. It also makes the merces penality more impactful since now it's not just about you not shooting civilians, but also being careful about not causing chaos that will get people killed. It actually expands the penalty feature in a meaningful way and makes it much more interesting.
Next time do your research before acting like a smart ass douche to people who actually know what they are talking about.
Something that should have been in the game from the beginning. Very immersion-breaking how NPCs can shoot into a crowd and only the player gets hurt! Glad this mod fixes that.
It would be better if friendly fire hits hit all NPCs except targets.I'm especially annoyed by the NPC characters who interfere in things that don't belong to them, so a few stray bullets from the guards wouldn't bother me at all....
