EDIT: if anyone wants to know a solution you can join the xbox insider program and download the latest build of the xbox app. there you can choose what specific file to install the game in and modify it from there
It should go in the place where you install Xbox games on your PC then: \PC - HITMAN 3 - Base Game\Content\Retail Not sure if MS checks for file changes though, it might prevent the update to the actions file (which tells it to look for holographic controllers and tells it the new file's name) But I have heard one or two people on reddit say the gamepass version on their WMR VR worked using the SteamVR controller config UI.
"Could you get a bit more specific about the xbox insider / xbox app thing and how to install the file in the game pls? " yes please can you explain it better cause I can't add any files even when I'm an insider and use xbox app...
Someone told me on reddit that if you press the left trigger while holding an object with grab, then you can release grab without dropping the item. Left trigger is mapped to "Aim Item" so it shouldn't cause any accidental actions doing that.
Changing what buttons perform what pre-set action is one thing, but changing what the actions actually do within the game (making grab a toggle) is not something that could be done with binding configs. You would either need to wait for IOI to make an option for it, or for a modder using the modding framework to patch that.
Doesn't seem to be working for me. Game is the same as before, I can move my hands around but none of the buttons work. The loading screen in eye level now instead of down below the floor so that's nice. If I try to edit the bindings inside of steam it just says "Loading bindings" or some such.
I'm using the game I bought with Epic if that makes any difference.
What VR Headset do you have? This is for Windows Mixed Reality ones. Like The Samsung, Acer and HP VR units.
Yeah, the Epic version tends to hang on the binding UI, that's why a config file was needed. On the other versions you should be able to bring up the UI and choose one that works for WMR units and controllers.
Are you using a G2 or a different WMR headset? It seems there are some button differences with the G2's controllers (compared to my Samsung's and some or the other older headsets) that might make the menu button have a different internal name, so it doesn't match up.
I managed to get it working had to edit the binding in SteamVR, first tried to bind the the menu/notebook button to the menu button and only the pause menu worked, but I ended up binding it to the X button which is instinct by default and it works now, the notebook/map/intel comes up when you hold it down.
It should. They should all report their controller as "holographic controller" since that's the internal or code naming for WMR controllers.
It's got a clickable multizone (north, south, west, east and center) touchpad, joystick, trigger, grab button, app menu button and windows button on each controller, right? No other extra buttons like A, B, X or Y?
The Reverb controls do not have a touchpad, and instead have ABXY, they are very similar to oculus touch controllers except no capacitive touch. They even have 0-100 scale for grip rather than a binary button.
Oh it seems like it has less total mappable buttons than the older WMR controllers then. The WMR touchpad has click points like a dpad and on the center. 5 per controller there. But looking at the Reverb's, instead of the 5 way clickable touchpad they only have 2 buttons (XY or AB) on each controller.
On H3 it doesn't use left or right on either dpad, but it does use center click. Left hand center is to realign your view, right hand is to crouch.
So Reverb users might be a little short on buttons then. Since app/menu button function is duplicated, maybe one hand's app menu could be used for crouch? I have a Samsung headset so I can't test config specific for the Reverb's. I just have the standard "holographic controller" sample config as my base, which comes with SteamVR's install.
I can try to make a mapping when my Reverb arrives from warranty replacement this week. It has the same buttons as the Oculus, so if they game is designed for Oculus controls, should be able to make something work by using those.
For example, in Fallout 4 they had to map some things on oculus to (press and hold X) to deal with having less buttons.
I am trying to see if I can test this in GamePass before I commit to a full purchase.
I've heard some people say it actually works fine in the gamepass version with Reverb G2. MAkes me wonder if they remembered to include the holographic controller json file in that version.
I'll try to download the gamepass version to look for it. It might have a file that works for Reverb G2 that can be copied over to Epic (or Steam version if it also has this problem).

I've got a json file with what should be the right changes, but I just need to test before I upload it.

Please make it toggleable grab :)

This mod is ONLY for players with WMR devices. The VR update for the game didn't include controller mappings for WMR controllers, this adds them.
