About this mod

Attempts to completely remove one type of fog from the terrain

Changelogs
  • INSTALLATION: Use teutinsa's HD2ModManager.
  • PERMISSIONS: I just nulled some textures out. They hardly count as assets anymore. You may repost what's here if you find a better way to do it.
  • CREATION: I used Boxofbiscuit97's HD2SDK-CommunityEdition to find the textures and build the .patch_ files
  • SUPPORT: None given, sorry. It works for me, and as long as it does, I'm content. I probably broke something somewhere that I can't see.

Nulls out some textures that seem to be used for volumetric fog (and maybe also for clouds, but I don't care about clouds.)

Effect on the final image: removes the static fog banks that obscure the ground and things close to it. There is still quite a bit of fog in some environments and at some times of planet-day. With this change, I can always see the ground clearly if it is close to me, and I can always see things that are close to the ground--no more checking the minimap for scavengers within 30 meters and line of sight.

This does not affect any "fog" that appears to move with the camera. Distant things during a blizzard, sandstorm, or in a foggy forest should still be faded and hard to see until you move closer. That's another type of fog entirely.

The higher your graphics settings, the more likely this is to affect something I don't see and therefore don't know about. I made this with all the grace of a knee-jerk. It's not rigorously tested.
