There's a couple things I want to do with this mod to "finish" it, including that. I've learned how manifests work now so it's definitely possible, the problem is a couple things - I need to redo 'pain'/exertion sounds, some of them are incorrect. Like hearing the 'ouch' spam when you have a wound - Some of the voice lines are incorrect/inconsistent, need to plan them better. Example of this being "freedom delivery" being used to denote supply call-ins now instead of being a grenade voice line in the first game, since it's important to know when your team is calling in supplies. "Take cover" is used for orbital strikes and "get down" is used for eagle strikes etc. The voice lines aren't 1:1 so it requires some finesse, and I had to label every voice line with a transcriber program to get the effect.
Either way, I plan to revisit this mod and bring it up to speed. If someone wants to help with this process, message me on discord
The OG HD2 voices are very good, since they all sound young it conveys that most helldivers are disposable and die pretty fast, but these are great if you want your character to sound like a veteran helldiver.
Probably not, this one was time consuming. I tried to make a HD1 music mod but it's time consuming and glitchy because of the HD2 dynamic music system, so I just listen to tracks on a youtube playlist and it's good enough.
I also have no clue how to extract sounds from HD1, otherwise I'd port some gun sounds
First game runs on the same engine as the second one IIRC. If you can find some decompilers and extraction tools for Autodesk Stingray, you might be able to extract sounds and use vgmstream to play them. No promises it'll work though, HD1 modding is basically non-existant.
However if you don't wanna do the legwork to get the rips yourselves. There's a github repository for the voices. https://github.com/Numidyum/Helldivers
(I'm currently looking into the possibility of ripping the audio assets myself.)
Update: Ripping audio is possible via some bitsquid tools, just got clean rips of some sound effects and voices, the only issue is that every file is using hash names and there is no clear indicator as to which patch file everything is in. So it's a lot of work (even to find just the tools). There's inconsistencies in formats, some files are in .wav while others are in .ogg.
The tools are here if anyone wants to take a crack at it. https://web.archive.org/web/20230429101352/https://zenhax.com/viewtopic.php?t=1019

Also that preview video is amazing. The HD1 voices and soundtrack just goes so well. Will you be doing other HD1 mods in the future?
