Hello I am getting these errors within Doctor Kleiner's lab and I don't know why. Opened console to find this.

    In the instructions it states:

    ATTENTION:

    • You need to install updates (if any) only with a version number greater than that of the main file.
    • Update and hotfix files must be extracted from the archive with file replacement.

However the zip file contains no updates/hotfixes. Nor are there any file replacement/overwrites this mod. You create the following \\hl2\Custom\4X_AI_DP68_Textures and then you place the contents of the zip into said location.

There are no other files available on this mod nor any other explanation how to make HL2 use these textures.

    I'm a little confused.

Sub question: Does this work with the HL2: Anniversary update?

I just tested it yes it works with the new 20th anniversary update.

All you need to do is create a "Custom" folder then put the mod's "4X_AI_DP68_Textures" folder inside it then copy the Custom folder to the "hl2" folder where hl2.exe is.

HL2 Anniversary on linux wasn't loading the mod for me, I fixed it by renaming the mod directory to "4ktex" instead of "4X_AI_DP68_Textures".

The path I have is steamapps/common/Half-Life 2/hl2/custom/4ktex, you should see two directories inside of that, materials and sound.

Those install instructions don't work for me and I followed them exactly.

    here is my install path:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\HL2MMod_HL2U\custom\4X_AI_DP68_Textures

I figured it out. Thanks for the mod!

If I want this to work with Episode 1 and Episode 2 do I also need to add  this to a custom folder in their folder directory or will they reach into hl2's custom folder for textures?

I always have trouble seeing the difference in textures without a side by side comparison, so I cannot say, if the textures actually load, but installing them /SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Half-Life 2/hl2/custom/ just as before, at least does not crash the game or anything.

I am running the linux native version as far as I can tell, not sure, if that changes anything or not.
In which config/ini file can you observe the game actually loading textures from /custom/*/materials ?

    Environmental textures look quite good.
All signage and other labels with writing need to be manually touched up though. Any texture with writing has very obvious AI artifacts.
