For anyone visiting this page to see if it still works, I'm currently running 1.1.3.4005 Rel and it works just fine, although the compass is a tad big.
First you need to download UnrealModLoader_V2.2.1.rar, extract the rar somewhere convenient. I simply created a folder in the Grounded game folder called UnrealModLoader.
Third open Maine-Win64-Shipping.profile, the profile you just downloaded, in a text editor and add IsUsingDeferedSpawn=1 under [GameInfo] at the top of the file and save.
Fourth you need to download and install Compass Mod, open the zip and place the 3 files in Grounded\Maine\Content\Paks\LogicMods. Most likely you'll need to create the folder LogicMods.
Finally, launch UnrealEngineModLauncher.exe and it will say that profiles are found, waiting for Game Window. Once you see that then you can launch Grounded. UnrealEngineModLauncher should instantly detect the game after you launch it, and you should see text in the command window. Start the game as normal and you'll see the compass at the top of the screen during character selection, then it should be working properly once you're in game.
As i remember the original values of the damage multiplier are 1.5 for player and 3.0 for the insects, i saw in the asset editor. But i manage to put like 3.0 for the player and the game turns into kinda souls like and i personally like it. Usually use this damage mod in combination with better stacks and better inventory, https://www.nexusmods.com/grounded/mods/18 makes the game better in my opinion kinda like essential mods vibe.
