So let’s just crack on with it!
Nexus Mods App
The newest release of our new App launched last week, and with it comes our regular caution. To update it, you will need to completely uninstall the old version, including all mods. It is still in very early stages of development don’t forget. But you can learn more about that here.
However, with this release, we’ve added a very basic implementation of downloading Collections, along with updates to the UI featuring the new tree view, as well as enhancements for Cyberpunk 2077. It also includes some enhancements for interacting with Windows applications via Linux – so shout out to our Linux users.
You can find the full changelog here.
Content
A quick update from me and the gang, as this month has been an exciting one for the Content Team. We finally welcomed the last member of our team, Modsetti, who will be a Content Creator alongside ModularCocoon.
We’ve been posting regularly across our socials, but we particularly wanted to let you know what we’ve been working on for our YouTube channel. As you may or may not have noticed, we’ve shifted away from having a single ‘monthly mods’ round-up that covers a range of games and are now prioritising dedicated videos for individual titles.
This month, we’ve had five videos go live, covering a variety of modding scenes. You can view a playlist of this month’s videos by clicking here.
We’ve also started our refreshed and updated Vortex Mod Manager series. This is designed to help beginners get started with modding, making it the perfect introduction for anyone you know who’s new to the scene.
Looking ahead to next month, we’ll be focusing on some spooky Halloween content for you, as well as showcasing some great mods for:
We’ve also got our team’s first go at hosting a screen archery competition for you to take part in later this month, so keep an eye out and get involved if it interests you.
Please let us know if there are any mods, mod authors, or games you’d like to see us spotlight. Drop a comment on our YouTube videos, let us know in the comment section of this post, or even send me a message.
UI & Layout Improvements
- Adult Content Settings UI: The layout has been improved to make it clearer and easier to use, especially with the previously hidden "Blur" option now being more visible.
- Mobile Collection Listing Pages: Filters now stick to the top of the page for mobile users, with video adverts for free users moved to the bottom.
Premium Membership Payments
Late payments are now linked to membership access. If a payment is missed, Premium access will be suspended until payments are resumed. However, users will still receive the full amount of paid time once payments are up to date.
Donation Points
The Donation Points algorithm has been updated, finalised, and is now live. The June, July, and August reports have been published, with payouts scheduled as usual.
From reading a lot of your feedback it was clear that our now hidden algorithm mixed with the per mod breakdowns was causing confusion amongst mod authors about how the system worked. As a result of this, we have removed the per-mod DP counts from reports using the new algorithm.
This means we are creating a new, separate dashboard for mod authors to see your total and unique downloads per month to let authors continue to track their stats.
Other Stuff
- API Acceptable Use Policy: Added a link to the Acceptable Use Policy on the API Keys page.
- Mod Statistics: A new monitor and alert system has been added to catch and address mod statistics update failures.
Eww, Bugs
- Checkout Issue Fix: We fixed an issue with checkout, affecting a small number of users who changed their Nexus Mods email address.
- Collection Media Galleries: Fixed a bug where embedded YouTube videos would play audio twice and fail to pause properly. That was annoying, sorry.
- Adult Content Display on Profiles: Fixed a bug where adult supporter images appeared on user profiles without the correct settings enabled or while logged out.
- Report Modal Pop-up Text Alignment: Corrected misaligned text in some report modals.
- Mod 'Update Available' Label: Fixed a bug where the ‘Update Available’ label disappeared from mods on user profiles.
What’s Next?
We’re currently in the middle of some work which we haven’t shipped publicly yet. A load of work is currently being done on the new ‘Game’ pages in Next. These will replace the equivalent of the old pages. As I mentioned though this is still very much a work in progress at the moment, and is not the final build.
You can see an example below of how the new Next ‘Game’ page is looking so far.
As always, keep your feedback coming; we’ll bring more updates next month!

We have recently removed the per-mod DP breakdown from reports that are using the new algorithm (from June 2024 onwards). We felt it was important to clarify why we have taken this decision.
From reading a lot of your feedback it was clear that our now hidden algorithm mixed with the per mod breakdowns was causing confusion amongst mod authors about how the system worked.
This is causing many mod authors to make incorrect assumptions based on the statistics that were being displayed. Worse, some authors were trying to claim their assumptions are "fact" or that they know how the system works, suggesting changes to how they upload their mods that would have been detrimental to what they seemingly care about - the amount of DP they receive.
It is our view that these incorrect assumptions, and the data that was helping them to be formed, are much more damaging than reducing transparency on the per mod breakdowns.
You do not earn less Donation Points when you publish new mods. You may end up seeing diminishing returns on the same users downloading all of your mods across a singular month but our position remains the same - if you continue to update mods to make them better and continue to release new and creative mods that encourages engagement on our site then you will continue to be rewarded for that work.
Please use the forums post if you wish to discuss this change
if the system cant tell me how much DP a mod has earned, how can it split them with others users?
This is incorrect, should not have been posted and has been removed.
We know exactly how much DP is earned for each mod, as well as the split ratios and it is calculated/distributed correctly.
If you want to carry on discussing this, we're keeping an eye on this forums post.
I already thought that statement was strange, will not create more confusion in other users, thank you.
By the way, since you are here, you could take into account that it would be necessary some way to massively change the options of the mods. For example to be able to select to change the permissions of all my mods or hide them without the necessity of having to be modifying them one by one, it would be possible to do something like that, it would be very useful.
"Nexus Mods has an official YouTube channel?"
If there's specific content you'd like to see, get in touch with SlugGirl.
We'll certainly bear this in mind when we next discuss our moderation tooling.
I must say I preferred the 2/5 column layout for the hot mods area, but I'll get over it real quick if it comes to be the final decision.
You can clearly see how much is paid out to Mod Authors via Donation Points here, it's increased recently to $350,000 (from $325,000) per month for June, July and August 2024: https://next.nexusmods.com/about/donation-points
Question; since the downloads recap won't be tied to DP anymore, will there be more informations displayed per mod?
For example; Which main file, which optional file, was the most downloaded in a specific mod? Or how many time a mod got tracked, endorsed?
I know all of these infos can be viewed on each individual mods, but it could be cool to have it all condensed in a same place :D
To be clear, I will no longer be able to see how many dp an individual mod makes in the monthly report ? I will just see a number drop for the total dp with no breakdown ?
edit: a number drop, I did not mean dp decrease, but a number layed flat on the report, as in dropped
This is a very practical solution because if anything the reports they shared showed that there was no common sense when it came to the new algorithm and that the DPs were completely random and without any correlation to anything even completely contradicting all the guidelines they wrote in “Donation Points - How they work”, just look at how the translators have been treated and are still waiting for some kind of explanation.
What is very very very clear is that if you don't create a really spectacular and highly downloaded mod that ranks high in the most popular games lists, they won't share with you a lot of rewards, don't waste your time if it's not just to create things for fun and invest a few hours in creating a page to share a mod.
You want to check something for yourself, confirm me if you mod Predators Flee If Too Wounded using Spell Perk Item Distributor (SPID) is present in the Monthly Reports of the last three months?
OK, you may think it's because they applied the super secret algorithm interactions and reduced the DPs to 0 for that mod, but it turns out that in August my 10 mods of this game being in the top 12 positions receive 0 DPs having interacted with only about 190 users in total.
Your mod shares interactions with your 77 mods for SKYRIM (which is a lot) and only your most popular mod for this game in 217th position in August had more than 53000 interactions with users, it is evident that 20 users interacted with the Predators Flee If Too Wounded using Spell Perk Item Distributor (SPID) would not have to receive DP following the DBFZ rule, but nevertheless for some strange reason it receives DP.
You will understand that as it happens with the Translators I think that there is some kind of discrimination towards certain games and mods.
This formula is also repeated for other games that I modify and I even discard 204 of my mods from the DP system.
I would also dare to go further and if you want to confirm it to me I would appreciate it very much, in your August list of Monthly Reports are your 135 mods?
I do not write here to create conflicts,
but I will not do like others who get angry and delete their content making the user the victimand even me because some of my texture mods were orphaned without the original author, what I want is that they rectify the algorithm and comply with what we were told that "Donation Points are now shared more fairly" and "The remaining users are expected to see similar amounts, with some of the current "top earners" seeing a drop in Donation Points", at the moment that is not happening and you yourself or anyone can draw their conclusions about what is increasingly unfair to those of us who do not modify games that do not appear on their YouTube channel.Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
As I said in my profile I'm a newbie fanmodder and I don't have any programming or 3D knowledge of Unreal engine, Unit, Blender, etc... all the Cheat Mods and color changes I make are created with UAssetGUI and Photoshop and the only thing I do is to spend many hours looking through the UASSET and testing to see if the changes work, I can't be more creative because that's my level.
What I am good at is to be active in the community and offer help and quick answers to all users who like my mods little creative and I also create many variants on request, that has brought me in 1 year and a half 1.7M downloads in unpopular games, so I think I can afford to freely share my opinion and raise all doubts and criticisms that I see fit about how now the new system brings me much less and that if this continues this way will have a huge impact on the experience that some users are having.
This past month the best known creator of FFVIIR removed his 53 costume mods being one of the biggest creative losses that could suffer that game, goodbye to the original costumes of Yoshitaka Amano or the costumes of Advent Children, Crisis Core, Honny Bee, Sephiroth Clone Cloud, etc ... I'm sure it will not be the first or the most important game.

Did someone strike? That's a bad choice he could make to everyone, including himself.
Furthermore, they themselves state it in their rules:
No offense to me, because I can assure you that if after working and attending to my family obligations I could dedicate myself to learn programming or 3D design I would do something very productive that could really help my family economically, here those of us who comment just want Nexus to improve and for them to be fair and committed to their system as they made us believe it would be.
The reduction of DP has not hurt my motivation because I continue to create Cheat Mods for my games, but it has hurt my perception of how I am now valued here and I am not the only one, now if I usually consider investing 3 or 4 hours to make screenshots, edit them and create descriptions and explanations, offer assistance and support, create more content at the request of users or variants or updates of the mods.
I also think it is a bad choice and that affects us all, but for that user who is precisely a professional creative just have to re-share your content on a payment platform, I myself would pay for those spectacular costumes and physics that I grant them, the good thing about Nexus is that even if you delete your pages here they stay with it and do not delete the content you uploaded from their servers and you can access it whenever you want to download it as long as you get the links to the downloads.
EDIT: I just went through your profile and noticed that your content is very similar to mine and you also have 34 mods just for Fallout 4 so you too are being affected by the reduction in interacting with the same users, I don't understand why you claim that it is not true that having more mods you get much less???
Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
I'm curious what you referenced. I usually add features, not edit values.
For me? Not enough changes to make me feel affected by the DP system changes.
I didn't claim anything. I'm sure I've seen Nexus make it clear two or more times that this assumption is wrong. - So, are you assuming they lied or the system malfunctioned? (or both?)
so far, this does not appear to have happened.
you seem to be the one here making assumptions about everyone else's DP reports.
it's also kind of ludicrous to claim you're a newbie modder when you've spent the last 3 years releasing 4 - 5 mods a week and have almost 600 releases.
See that's precisely what I don't understand you have 34 mods that interact with the same users and you are not affected by the system, I have 7, 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, etc.. for different non popular games and the system affects me so much that I don't even get DP for any mod of 2 of those games, I have no problem with 40% reduction of my popular games FFVIIR, DBZK or Palworld because we were already warned that having many mods would degrade a lot, even to 0 DP, If I keep sharing them all instead of alternating them over the months so that they are not so affected, it is my fault, not Nexus, who already told me so.
Neither I nor other users assume anything, we only state a reality with facts that show that of “Donation Points are now shared more fairly” are not being done well and that hiding more and more everything gives more reasons to think that this is correct, I don't know anyone who, when doing things correctly, hides all the evidence that proves it.
Receiving 0 is not a fair way to distribute things if users are downloading, them and this would end quickly if someone responsible would say for example “If it is true we no longer reward in the same way to the less downloaded mods and unpopular games” but that has not happened, but it is the other way around we were told that there would no longer be inequalities between those who receive more and those who receive less, that is why if they reduce 40% of the DP of the popular games I want my increase in those that are not, it is as simple as that.
Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
The DP reports from other users are in the other post, I am not assuming anything is what many commented and like you claimed to have reductions.
I usually start a game and invest hours in creating these Cheat mods for me, some require a lot of patience because you have to modify more than 3000 lines of code by hand and others are very simple and can be created faster, but for all I have to invest a lot of time in finding the responsible UASSET and I am not the developer of the game, so depending on how long I play with it I can create more than 20 and my 3 favorite games because I always keep looking for what I did not find to create more mods, so I have shared so many and I have invested so much time in uploading them.
So you mean that you received more the three months not like me that for all the months I received less and more than 200 mods were discarded each of those months, you think that as these years I have created many mods for many games and completely different, the new system is making me discriminates and that my case is special, like when you get blacklisted???
Maybe I should consider hiding many of these mods that do not receive DP so that the interactions do not subtract from all the others because they do receive downloads???
Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
for the rest, i'm not interested in how many hours you put in or how many lines of code you edited, all i said is that it's ridiculous to present yourself as a "newbie modder". you aren't one.
as to why you're getting hit and others aren't? idk, maybe they don't release five recolours of the same outfit as five different mods on the same day. it's not a big mystery. looking through your back catalogue it very much looks like you're engaging in the kinds of behaviours the algorithm isn't intended to reward.
spare me the outraged rant, i'm not interested in it. you're free to hold whatever opinion you want about whether that change is fair. i'm just saying it's not surprising and you don't need to pretend you're confused about why it's happened.
Thank you for your interest in me, it is a pleasure to have you in this community, if I am a newbie fanmodder without any knowledge and a large part of the modifications I have made have been by chance and many still do not even understand them, but they work, you can also tell someone that they are a doctor because they know how to apply band-aids and use iodized alcohol
Ok, I have not found among my mods those supposed 5 pages that recolored the same suit, but I guess you mean Spider-Man Remastered, if it is true that I have 3 suits with two separate color changes and I also have 3 Fixed for weapons separately in Palworld, I guess that's more than enough to remove more than 200 mods per month of the system, I have it very well deserved for abusing it that way, maybe if I had created a lot of kittens or collections of poses, I would get an interview.
EDIT: Ok, fixed I'll follow your advice hidden the 35 Spider-Man Remastered and 16 Miles Morales suits mods that didn't receive DP during those three months.
If it is surprising and not receiving DP for all mods of the same game is even more so, you can also see the translators and those who still appear here and in the forum to express themselves more calmly and without creating much commotion (not my case) that something IS NOT RIGHT.
One thing I am sure of, if they wanted to end this problem they would have already answered the more than 30 users that I have seen them ask about the changes and they are still waiting for a more extensive answer than “we are not sharing specific details on how the system allocates rewards” and asking privately you also get the same results, absolute emptiness.

Scrolling through your profile, it appears that a large number of the mods you upload are lower effort. For example, your recent "High priority" affinity registry edits (as to the value of this on a technical level? A whole different discussion), which you've re-uploaded for multiple games.
Don't get me wrong - you may have some content that is more complex - but pages in, I'm fatigued already. It strikes me like you've been aiming for quantity of uploads, rather than providing fleshed out content. I assume this is why you've been hit particularly hard.
So, minding this, have you considered changing how you upload and support your mods?
Food for thought: many of the tweaks you've created and uploaded for Palworld, for example, could be consolidated into a single FOMOD installer, or similar.
Doing so would mean users can run through an installer, picking and choosing which tweaks they want to install. It keeps everything in one place, and would be very user friendly.
It would also concentrate interactions with users! If folks have requests, you can implement them easily - and users who might not be looking for additional tweaks might see the update, install it, and decide they want the extra goodies you've added.
In the end I decided to remove it and thanks to partner one of the programmers of my job company who gave me a solution, I was able to create a set of hexadecimal editing tools in batch processing files for PowerShell with which you can create over 4097 versions of your own Gantz79 Modular Game Settings Mods (4097 versions). By the way, splitting mods should no longer be a reason for a CM to contact you unless it is for an interview.
My mods are simple but they attract many users which is what is really important and keeps them in good positions in the lists for their respective games, you are right I have uploaded 8 log editors in September and the truth is that I have my reasons for doing so and almost all were previous user requests.
Yes, I have considered to unify many mods in a single page but I'm afraid of repeating the nightmare that was my first version of Game Settings HUB and I have to close the Post and Bugs tabs, and if I'm honest I love interacting with all users, many of my mods would not exist without the contribution of many of their ideas, and it is really rewarding to receive from time to time some thanks or invitations to their servers, the vast majority usually tell me that they are surprised to receive a response. I looked for information of FOMOD to know what it was and I haven't found anything similar for Unreal Engine modifications, besides with the new engine 5 it is even more complicated to use mods.
Let's see if some expert developer who reads this can create something like FOMOD for UE that will solve all UE modders the problem and we only need a single page to place all our modifications, it would also be nice to indicate the compatibility between mods from different authors checking that UASSET modify.

EDIT: I consider my controversy with the new DP system settled because finally someone has dared to say what had to be said from the beginning to avoid all these conflicts Donation Points per mod breakdown removal
We will be addressing the migration path and how the app updates over the coming months.
How does that work then?
I understand that a per mod breakdown of the DP earned doesn't truly make sense, given the info you've given about the new algorithm. But a breakdown per mod is obviously necessary when DP is shared (since it is shared on a per mod basis). Does that mean that the shared amount is essentially arbitrary? And if not, then why is there a need to remove the breakdown per mod in the report page (it's rather interesting to have that info)?
Or is the per mod DP (used for evaluating the shared amount), calculated from the fraction of unique downloads of that mod and total DP of the user?
I've released several mods that have totally tanked, when I expected them to do well, and the opposite. How are we to gauge popularity in future?
There's metrics beyond how much money you make on a mod, if you can believe it. Before DP was introduced, we used to gauge how popular our mods were by how many downloads and endorsements it was receiving. I have faith that you too can learn these ancient ways.
and not to gain dps?
From what I can gather, interaction with users, and unique downloads, seems key. Most of my mods would be called duds, but I have heavy interaction with users. Duds when judged by popularity standards. They are all precious to me and were normally primarily made for me.
The monthly money my mods make gives my wife a little money to treat our kids to treats like ice cream days. It’s fun and makes her happy. But not vital to us in any way. I thank God for that , but I am keenly aware it’s not the same for all, and that all of us are one illness or accident away from severe hardship…
