What input did you use? at first I did '2.2X' as that was what was logged in the terminal but upon looking at the batch file it checks for '2' rather than '2.2X' so if you havent tried using the rounded numerical value of the desired multiplier then give that a go. Using '2' or otherwise will then create a new XXXP.arz
I'd really like to use this mod baseline for all characters and don't mind modding the base game files to do it, but in the readme you say "If you want to play this mod in vanilla Grim Dawn without custom mode, the source is included. Just unpack the vanilla game " and then it's like you just stopped writing. If that's really all you intended to write, please consider that most people downloading mods here are not professional GD modders.
Unpacking the vanilla game (I got that far, but for the sake of other users maybe add how to do that to the readme) seems to just create text files for reference purposes and replacing them doesn't change how the game behaves, so then what?
For anybody in the future that wants to install this mod since there still isn't a basic readme for this [thank you mod creator, you spent hours making this and didn't spend 2 minutes to put a readme for the installation :) ]
Installation:
Copy the xxp folder (not the one with a bunch of numbers after it, the folder right under it) into the mods folder in grim dawn. So steam/steamapps/ common/grimdawn/mods. Copy the xxp folder into that folder. Then select custom game, you'll then be able to play using this mod.
Where are my save files?
However, you'll notice that your saves are gone. This is because modded characters have their own save folder. However since the mod doesn't change anything but the exp, you can copy your save files from the base game and paste them into the save file folder for modded games and vice versa. I have steam cloud sync disabled so for me, the save files are in documents/mygames/grimdawn/save/main. Copy the save folder (with the same name as your character) you want to powerlevel into grimdawn/save/user. If you have steam cloud enabled your save files are in a similar structure but instead inside steamapps/common/grimdawn/save
Things to note- As far as I know this mod only boosts exp gained from enemies. Quest exp is unaffected. As such, at the later stages in the game where most exp is actually from quests, it'll just make enemies somewhat faster than quests rather than making your leveling extremely quick, although it will be noticeably faster.
If you have main game characters you'd like to powerlevel, simply port their save to this mod, level them up, and copy them back into the main game. BACKUP YOUR SAVES. Enjoy and if anybody found a way to edit the mod to increase exp even further plz reply, thx.
I have tried combing this mod with other mods and it doesn't work at all. Is there a way to manually change the xp gain or something so I could get it working? Also a program to open .symlink files. Any help would be great thanks
It doesn't work at all, i've been trying to set it up for an hour and i still cant play with it. I have changed all the folders and files and it didn't help me! ( when i try to start custom game, there's no map to play) I\ve done it finally, it works
So how do we get this to work? because I tested a new character with the mod extracted to my mods folder in the grim dawn root and each time with an without the mod I got 5 XP. so either it doesn't work, or I screwed up. Post instructions please.
It seems that you must choose 'custom game' not main campaign. But this means that you will have to create a new char for the custom campaign that is not compatible with main campaign, and therefore you won't be able to play in multiplayer.
BUT if You create character in custom game then I THINK You can move saved character to main campaign when done leveling ;) didn't tested that myself tho
