Each time I use one of the XP mods I find the large boss monsters are frozen in place. The smaller monsters move around ok but trolls and those big tree monsters and some bosses just stand there even when attacked. I guess 1205 breaks monsters in 1212, at least for me.
I am running latest version of GD (1212) with AoM and FG.
Out of curiosity will you be updating the file to the new 1.2.1.0 patch or will the current version suffice. I want to start a new character but after using this on the previous Hardcore character feels wrong to do without
Thanks for your effort, really this is the only slower leveling mod I can find. I want reduced XP, like Veteran progression thru the game on Ultimate, Veteran is too easy in my opinion. I wish there was a mod to give the same quest and monster XP on Ultimate as it is on Normal or Veteran.
So this does not work on 1.1.9.1 right ? Edit: I see that GDX2.arz might've not been updated in the hotfix, accoring to the date on the file, so it seems to work. Well that is, if it's supposed to NOT give me any reputation with x0 exp, I wanted to farm Devils Crossing rep but it's not giving me any points. Is that supposed to happen ? If so, is it possible to make mobs give the rep but not the exp ?
from my observations if you reduce exp from kills but not eliminate it completely - you still gain tons of rep. As for version compatibility - I'll reinstall game to be sure, but seems all ok (may be patcher skipped gdx2 because I forgot to restore it to unmodded)
Ok, so it's as I thought. I don't know how to reduce EXP myself. I don't want to bother, but can you make a version that gives some exp then, like x0.1 EXP without any loot disabled ? Or alteast a 33% version with totem loot, If it's not too much of a hassle. Doing it myself, which I tried, is, I know nothintg about GD modding. x0.5 still goes too fast, lol. Also thanks for checking the 1.1.9.1.
exp from kills is decided by one formula for every kill (well there are 4 types of that one formula for different difficulties), which is in file gameengine.dbr there are few of those in different .arz and only changes from latest expansions apply, thats why it has to be gdx2
you just need to run asset manager, setup the game paths in tools section (there is guide somewhere) and from same section click "extract resources"(that is what happening right now on my side as I write this btw), one instance of "programm has stopped working" is fine during unpacking. Then choose "mod" gdx2. Then change formula and save mod, it takes some time for the first time. Next you need to now that file is saved not where it was but in "mods/gdx2" folder so take it to where it belongs and you are good to go. Make backups :)
PS not sure if 0.1 exp will cut it because if exp is too small you dont get rep, not sure what is the limits.
PPS new version includes sources and *0.25 exp option
Okay, thank you very much for the explanation and new version. What's the name of the actual formula/variable to change, please ? The "ExperienceEquation" formulas are the same on both vanilla game and your mod. I've been playing with the previous 1.1.9.0 version last few days, really hope it didn't mess anything up, didn't seem like it...
EDIT: Okay, I've tried the new version and the variant WITH the shrine loot does NOT give shrine loot, as it should, just so you know.
which version did you have this problem with? I just tested 0 25 33 75 versions both "no loot" and without change to loot - seems fine. however make sure you didnt use "no loot" version.
about safety of using non-updated version - should be fine, it only reverts gdx2 changes.. which you may not have and still play the game and patch was pretty small
Man you are the best! I was so bored to play because of too fast leveling and beating all enemies with one hit. And it is a pity that there is no 10\20\30\% exp options...

Is there any chance for a 1.1.9.7 update though?

If you want to make it yourself it is not hard:
