Hi, I think I want to install Return 2.0 New Balance and play the game that way. Will your mod work with that as is? Or the graphics upgrade only way (VDF)? Either way, I'll install the DX11 so I can still use the 3D maps file as well? Thanks in advance, Kila
I'm using it as a texture pack (only new models and textures, no world changes, cuz I'm in the middle of game) and must admit it's the best one available. Most importantly it preserves the vanilla feel and doesn't turn the world into a jungle like L'Hiver. Plants are easier to spot now and conifer tress don't obstruct your view as much as in vanilla. I only don't like that No-Grass patch doesn't work with this mod, it must add some vegetation with non-standard names, or maybe it's No-Grass patch fault that it doesn't cover all files. I stumbled across some minor bugs, i.e. Milten was naked in Valley of Mines, or some bandits in Jharkendar wore militia armor, but after save & reload they changed to correct ones.
Edit: after repacking Gold Remaster with VDFS No-Grass patch works and I've regained a lot of FPS.
Edit2: I might be the only person who ever had this problem, but looks like the new ARMOR_PAL_H.MDM crashes when this option is enabled: zSubdivSurfacesEnabled=1; ... with this setting you can activate subdiving surface for progressive meshes (untestet, default: 0) So just a heads-up to everyone to NOT enable zSubdivSurfacesEnabled (keep it 0), looks like this feature doesn't really work.
Hey, I m kinda new to Gothic 2 and I installed this mod and honestly I m having troubles with finding anything in forest. There is just to much vegetations for me. Could you help me how to reduce this? You said there is some mod NoGrass but it needs modification, how do I do that?
Download this vdf and put it in Gothic data folder. If it doesn't work it means that Gold Remaster .mod file's modified date (Timestamp) is newer than NoGrass vdf's modified date which makes it override NoGrass changes. You can ameliorate that by repacking Gold Remaster or NoGrass with VDFS, it should be in _work\tools\VDFS. You unpack with VDFS by clicking on (Viewer) and repack back to .vdf (or .mod) by clicking on (Builder), there's a more detailed tutorial here (unfortunately only in German, use google translate). I recommend repacking NoGrass, since it's much smaller, so it will be quicker. The idea is that NoGrass Timestamp must be set to high enough date, so that any other mod with newer date won't override its changes. You can be safe i.e. with year 2050.
Edit: I've just repacked it for you, so you don't have struggle with VDFS yourself.
This is what I have been long waiting for. The best Gothic graphic mod by far. It keeps the original feeling and colour pallete, while also vegetation placement make sense instead of making from map a cluttered rainforest like most other mods. I like even new plants. All colors and shades fits together, so it dont feel moddy, its basicly remastered vanilla. I use it now as a texture pack over L Hiver with no grass patch.
( Masty should implement this into L Hiver :D, which is a great mod but, the vegatation there needs decluttering and grass is too high and dark)

Thanks!
