Hey man, sadly no time to test it now, but I promise to very soon. This is honestly more exciting to me than a new Gothic game, yes, I'm THAT pumped. Fukken finally someone got around to this, Returning is spectacular but that broken Engrish really pissed me off and made me ultimately quit the game as I didn't understand jack s*** of what was happening. Can you please confirm which version of new balance you use exactly, and do we just get the stuff from the RPG Russia forums?
There you go, newest version available as of this writing. Thanks for the kind words, I'm sure you'll love the patch. I was in the same boat, I love gothic, I love Necromancy. Someone creates a pumped up version of Gothic 2 with epic Necromancy, I was giddy to try it. And then Xardas opened his mouth and sounded like he just finished his third bottle of vodka. I scour the net looking for a solution, nada. So I decided to make one. I'll have an entirely grammatically correct version ready very soon, but for now, enjoy the best translation out there.
Haha awesome man, can't wait for that, then :D Have my whole-hearted endorsement until then, I can't even imagine what a monumental undertaking this must have been :D
Hi I can't get it to run with the 16th December version in this Google folder, or the one on the Russian RPG site. It runs in Russian, but as soon as the patch is added to the data folder, I can't get past the menu screen and load into the game it just crashes to desktop. If you could direct us to the exact build and/or any other files needed that would be super helpful.
s#*!, I Installed the June 2022 version, and am intending on doing my personal playthrough on that once my full translation file is up. (Should be soon). Can you try looking for an older version of New Balance? What about this:
Crap... I can't account for changes made to new versions of the mod and the weird ways they affect certain files. However, I'm approximately 3 months away from being done with a fully hand translated version, which will (most likely) work on the newest version available at that point. I still have 400+ instances of extremely disjointed and crappy dialogue to comb through, at which point one of the guys on the Discord server will magic up a new patch. Please look forward to it, as the japanese game devs occasionally say :P
My first mod and all that so I forgot to mention installation: Paste the file into your Gothic 2/Data folder. I'm using a pretty new version of the New Balance Mod so if you suffer an access violation or whatnot that might be it...
Congratulations on your first mod :) Just wanted to ask, does it contain translations by Magus? Or is it entirely separate?
Would use it myself if the english dubbing wasn't that bland compared to german/polish. I only miss Darion who sounds like a hilarious snappy pastor from Texas.
Nope. I just used LordSargon's tool. I basically translated Russian to polish, polish to english etc. until it turned out surprisingly great. At the end of the day I did it for myself and decided to share. Oh, and I'm currently redoing the ENTIRE FREAKING SCRIPT with Helpo1's assistance on Discord. Taking nonsense sentences and fixing them, adding tons of flavour to boring dialogues etc. Its quite a job but its coming along fantastically I must say. Should be done soon.
