Hi.. Thanks for the amazing mod. Definitely a must have as the normal version takes too long to traverse across the map. However, as mentioned by Griffin in his earlier comment, the lift after gliding is not working, which was there in the normal version. While the speed in your mod is very noticable and a god send, but as you can't pitch to lift altitude, you maintain same elevation. If you try to glide from a lower elevation, like a small building, You will invariably hit an obstruction on the way, unlike the lift feature there in the normal version. Is there any tweaking you can do on this? Thank you once again for making these amazing mods!!
I just wanted to drop a thank u for all the mods u updated to the current version of the game. A lot of these traversal ones are QoL mods for me and make the game so much better and a lot of ur other mods do too!
So thanks so much for pretty much almost single-handedly keeping the mods for this game alive. lol
Hello and thank you for the update of this mod, I've been waiting for it for a while now! Sadly, it seems while this mod adds speed to the gliding, it also disables the ability to gain height. Batgirl just doesn't go up anymore. It's not due to bad compatibility with other mods either, I've tested it alone and it's the same. I know it's not exactly your mod, but maybe it is possible to be fixed? Thank you in advance.
The other mod has grappling. This one doesn't. I haven't modified any variables from piqo.
Edit:: Actually let me investigate one thing. lol
Edit 2: Well, even then, I don't have much experience with BG. This means I haven't had time to experience and thus notice what the pros and cons of the traversal. Thus I'm just directly updating piqo's variables. But for when I did glider and teleport, I've been accustomed to them enough that I even created new gameplay variations for them.
You can't really do things sincerely without sincerely understanding the problems, and I don't have a good grasp of what/why/how of BG gliding.
Actually another thing is that pitch is tied to speed. The thing with this mod is that the minimum speed is too high. When I had set the minimum speed to 0 lol, I was able to pitch up. But again I haven't changed any variables.
Anyways are you saying this is not working the same as Piqo's original mod - made over a year ago lol - or are you talking about "both" mods?
Wait. Batgirl.. or Batman never ascended while gliding unless doing a nose dive and then climbing again. I THINK that feature is in GK I'm not even sure if that works in vanilla GK, nor do I know which variable/graph controls it.
And given that you're not under any power... You're going to be the same a gliding bird that doesn't flap its wings. You're going to descend unless you take action to manipulate aerodynamics. So in fact it's more like a It's not like the hang-glider where you have lift power. It's like a NON-MOTORIZED hang glider, which is what we usually use.
Remember, even a hot air balloon is driven by heat energy, and heated air increases pressure because... PV=nRT. P = pressure, V = volume, T = temperature, and n and R are scientific constants I don't really remember. Been a while since taking Physics and I ended up studying Engineering so excuse me if I don't recollect things.
This means that as Temperature rises, Pressure and/or Volume increases.
Since a hot air balloon can't increase in volume, then it is pressure that rises proportional to temperature.
Manipulating air pressure via manipulating fire is how you elevate in a hot air balloon.
I mean.. Without energy you are basically going through entropy.
I haven't tested the original mod on the reverted version of the game, since I don't have it, and never had.
I only tested the updated game with and without mod. Without mod, you can pull the left stick backwards and Batgirl will fly up if she has enough speed. With mod, she doesn't go up at all, even after divebomb. And idk about physics, it just feels like a bug.
Fact is that when you the higher the speed you have, the less you can lift.
Right now the minimum speed is 2000.
When I tested it at minimum speed (lol) I could lift easily.
So it's a trade-off. You either get speed or you get pitch.
Furthermore, in no Arkham game does gliding ascend unless you are nosediving and climbing - and that's to get achievements. In normal gliding, you have to grapple and launch in order to climb.
To do otherwise is utterly unrealistic. It really is. I don't like ascending without the energy required to counteract the force of gravity.
Remember, the force of gravity is mass * gravitational constant acceleration, and Earth's gravitational constant is 9.98 And because I'm speaking about acceleration, that means your falling speed is actually increasing the whole time. Batgirl's cape mitigates said falling speed by manipulating the cape to taking advantage of air currents (just like an airplane.. except again, without power).
It's as if you had Nightwing's hangglider except without power.. and yet somehow the hangglider is still climbing despite gravity.
Also, the reverted version is not my mod. This isn't even my mod. I am directly updating it. That is all and I haven't asked permission for more. And we by Nexus rules we need a modder's permission to do anything related to someone else's mod.
I was planning on releasing a glide mod yesterday anyway. Already had the header coded the afternoon. Pretty easy after the 1 or 2 months experience I started doing this.
You don't even need to deal with functions. It's all header declaration. So essentially we can update anything that doesn't have complicated assets.(like, no way I can do a blueprint.. or a data table with 124862 variables because the latter is tedious.. or if there are more than say... 3 classes involved lol)
(Unless it's camera, in which case I already programmed said "complicated asset"... and MAYBE there's reason I programmed that)
