You can place the files into DataPC_Resources_patch_01.forge instead, that way you don't have to repack the whole 20gb file. Patch files take priority and texture edits don't need any prefetching edits, so you can copy the textures directly into the other forge.
If i try to added the file to change the smoke texture this comes up (Texconv.exe was not found, try reinstalling the program. what cann i do so i can youse the program?
As of 3/2/25 It works. Dont follow last resort video because i couldnt get it to work. Just unpack DataPC_Resources.forge file using anvil. Download the old files (below the main ones). open DataPC_Resources.forge file in container, drag and drop old mod files into folder, click replace. go back to anvil, repack DataPC_Resources.forge file. It works. Youll know when you get a corrupted files error on the start up of the game. Just click continue.
Thank you @Endlessunset for your comment because this was the only thing that actually worked for me.
Can we please get an update for this? It's unlikely for this game to get another update anytime soon, and the current instructions to install this mod are just not correct anymore. A lot of people are sharing their own different ways that they've managed to get it working for themselves and that's just awkward to follow. Please update either the mod itself or provide new instructions that work for everyone.
At least on my computer (December 2024), after trying several times, I used the anvil tool to decompress the DATAPC_Resources.forge folder, then decompressed the 61438 and 62656 data files, replace them with the latest mod file downloaded, repackaged them, and finally repack the DATAPC_Resources.forge instead of copying those two data files to the DATAPC_Resources_patch_01.forge file. The crash did not occur, and the mod effect was also achieved.(Not using files from before September
No, as long as you don't put those two packaged files into DATAPC_ Resources _ patch _ 01. forge as the creator said in the readme file, there won't be any accidents.
Anvil will help you back up your files when extracting them. Perhaps you can go to your game folder and find the backups folder, then replace the wrong file with an unpolluted one, and try again. Remember, use the replace button instead of using anything else to change the file, and then use the save button to save it. And then you just need to repack and repack again.
As of February 7, 2025, I successfully ran the mod using the method described in this post. I followed the installation guide in the video, but the game wouldn’t launch and only showed a crash report window. So instead of modifying [DATAPC_Resources_patch_01.forge], I repackaged [DATAPC_Resources.forge], and that allowed me to run the mod successfully. Thank you!
Do you have other mods on? It worked a few months ago but now I have pinpointed this mod to the crashing of my game thus far. I followed the steps that the mod author has and also attempted the Data_Resources_Patch_01.
I used the original files and just dropped them in the resources_01 folder and repacked without issue and all my mods working this morning. Make sure you download the original data files and not the dds files labeled main.
Do you mean download the old mod files instead of the most up to date version and directly put it into datapc_resources_patch_01.forge? Because that did not work for me.
For anyone struggling to get this to work.... (i have been trying for the past day, i even had to reinstall the game at one point)
Dead easy for anvil users:
1. Download the first optional file, the one that requires anvil. 2. DO NOT install pre patch files like the readme tells you to. 3. Unpack Data_Resources_Patch_01. 4. Right click anywhere in the list and "open containing folder" 4. Lob the two files in from your downloaded folder into the folder you opened in last step. 5. Repack Data_Resources_Patch_01. Done.
did you find a solution to this? I am still trying to figure out how to do this mod. I also do not have any of those files in my unpacked data resource reforge folder. I really want this to work. day3 on trying.
any help would be greatly appreciated. For real I am feeling retarded and I've been modding for awhile.
The installation instructions are too confusing, and the DataPC_Resources.forge contains 61438_-_GFX_xBulletTrail_Mesh_DiffuseMap.data and 62656_-_GFX_xTrailSmoke_DiffuseMap_PC. data are missing.
If you can't find the files search trail*diffuse, then look for them. I know the instructions aren't very good but it's the only thing I can think of to help people.
I've tried several times and the files are still missing. Even when typing in trail*diffuser, I can't find anything. Am I doing something wrong? I been on this for 2 days and even re installed the game. Any help would be great.
Thanks
I FIXED IT WITH SEPT. PATCH!!!! but... Also had to download the data files not the dds files. dropped them into the resource.forge.01 folder and it worked.
Still works with the Last Resort method- although his tutorial was a bit confusing. Just unpack the DataPC_Resources.forge file, right click and select "open containing folder", drag the .data mod files (from the previous release below the main file) into the .forge folder and replace files. You'll know it worked when you launch the game and it gives you a "corrupted files" message. Just continue and the mod should work fine.

This worked straight up for me.
This will work if you don't install anything else in that resources folder. At this point I have tried everything, just gonna move on.
