" It turns out the start up crashes are caused when you are wearing a piece of modded clothing or gear on your current visual loadout. When you attempt to load into the main menu while wearing a modded piece of clothing or gear it will always crash/freeze. If you are not wearing modded clothing at the time you launch the game your mods WILL work"
Deef, does this mean that when we log out we need to wear an outfit with no modded clothing to ensure that we can log back in without the game crashing or freezing?
Im working hard to get modding set up on Breakpoint right now and have had to shuffle some forge files around because I accidentally out of stupidity borked a 130hr Echelon character I had with the "unlock everything" mod an have been having severe trouble getting those forge files from the mod to work with mods that I'm currently trying to install such as the ones from your tutorial.
Any suggestions, advice would be greatly appreciated.
I copy pasta'd that from the original page, but my feeling is - no. I've logged in and out with modded cosmetics on before with zero issue. I think it's if you are crashing, then perhaps try that. But it should not be happening, so could be specific to a mod you are trying to use also.
Thanks so much for the info Deef. Love the channel keep it up brother! Glad there's kindred spirits out there that truly can play this game like its "chicken soup for the soul"
Same thing is happening to me. I've used the Unlock Everything mod and I crash constantly, every single time I try to install other mods. This is supremely irritating, to the point where I just want to completely uninstall and never play the game again, but... I really want to play GR:Breakpoint, lol.
I discovered that the crash only happens if the first save is wearing modded items (from a mod that uses 23_-_TEAMMATE_Template.data). I have an old save in my first slot that was wearing pretty basic stuff, and my second slot is my current character with several modded items. I never had any crashes until I installed Valkyrie's Plate Carrier, but the game crashed on start when I installed that. Then I realized my guy in the first save slot was wearing a Crye JPC, which that mod changes. So I reverted to my previous .forge files, loaded the save and took off his JPC, put the modified .forge files back, and presto the game loaded with no issues, even though my save in the second slot is wearing the same modified JPC.
Hi dunno if I am late but I can confirm that, as of today (May 11 2025), with a fresh downloaded Ubisoft Version game (not Steam), the pre-patch works great, the only thing I noticed is that under my game folder there is no longer a "DataPC_Resources_patch_01" file, so do not accidentally delete your "DataPC_Resources.forge" file like I did the first time!
The install is simple, like in the description page - delete your Extracted folder (if you have one), backup and delete your "DataPC_patch_01.forge" file, take the 2 files from the mod zip and place it in your game folder and you should be good to go :)
I believe there was a sneaky patch. I reverted my game via SteamDB to the January 2023 patch and it works again with all my mods - even the new stuff. Breakpoint is actually on sale for 90% on Steam right now if you are currently on Ubisoft and carries over your characters.
I used this youtube tutorial for DepotDownloader: https://youtu.be/qPWM6Jr8TUM?si=QzhlRcssBSYWRVgQ
I got the game from the ubi launcher, as one stated having solved the issue with a former version from steam, I think we know where the issue comes from.
You can play with multiplayer now, even if your friends don't use mods, see here, I released a mod that should let you: https://www.nexusmods.com/ghostreconbreakpoint/mods/1237?tab=posts
Could be a bunch of reasons, are you already running mods? Perhaps your character is wearing something that is modded, sometimes the game doesn't like that. Best bet would be to boot the game up without any modded files (delete your modded forge files, the Backup and Extracted folder) and change the gear on your character that you may have modded. Otherwise, I did a beginners guide on modding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4ar3NhJXzo&t=1200s hopefully that can help
Have you actually launched into the game, created a character and played yet? Because some files don't generate until you do. Follow this guide to get started modding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4ar3NhJXzo&t=1200s
Ubisoft finally did it, they made a way for even this mod to no longer work. It seems we've all had the file formally work and now it's an instant crash on startup.
Hopefully there's a fix now, but it seems Breakpoint can finally die in the hell hole it belongs to since we can't even make the pre-patches work anymore
Prepatches working for me on a fresh install on a laptop this morning. Follow this beginners guide to getting started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4ar3NhJXzo&t=1200s
So is modding fully broken at this point? I did a fresh install, followed a guide, and the game crashes on startup with just the patch files dropped into the containing folder, havent downloaded any mods. I know modding this game is finicky, but im frankly at a loss
You just dropped the patch files in and replaced the old patch files? Had you ran the game yet? Sometimes running the game first is a good shout. I've not heard this, but I've no clue as to why it is happening.
From what I've been experiencing so far... Yeah, I think modding in this game is doomed. None of the mods on this site worked. Even with fresh installation. It'll just crash the game or doesn't start at all. The same goes for this Pre-September 20th patch files.
It's not doomed, you've just not had a good install of whatever you tried to follow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4ar3NhJXzo&t=1200s follow this beginners guide, backup as you go. Best rotation is backup, install mod, test, if stable then backup again and repeat until you're done installing mods.
Hello, I tried to follow Deef's tutorial to install mods on Breakpoint but I can't even do the first step I don't see the file "Shader fixes" a solution?
Shader Fixes is from another mod that I show in that video, it's from Spartan UI, nothing to do with this. Ignore what's in my folder and just follow my instructions, you will be grand.
