Thank you very much. Who the hell invented movie grain in video games? The person who thought it would be cool to adopt artifacts from antiquated movies must have had impaired vision.
Or they just understand how grain utilizes and adds mood, organic feeling and depth to moving and still pictures. There really is a form of enchantment and charm in imperfection. It's meant as an artistic expression and less so a consequence of being visually impaired. (Which TBH that comment is pretty ignorant.) I'll be using this to remove film grain just because personally I dislike it in my Video Games. There still is extreme artistic and technical validity in the use of Film Grain that I think everyone should learn to understand.
I completely agree, I will always disable motion blur, film grain, lens flare, camera effects (eg: water droplets etc.) chromatic aberration and depth of field in my games, why? Because I am playing a game. I'm not watching or playing a movie am I? I understand the artistic choice and that some games are very cinematic but one doesn't need to emulate the medium when it's so glaringly not said medium. One is interactive, the other isn’t. Maybe we have the impaired vision.
@SuperBoaGaming, do you take andykind of drugs? Film grain doesn't add anything like mood, organic feeling and depth. It's quite simple. Old movies got upscaled and rendered from analog to digital media. That's the only reason, why there is grain. The developers had to let us the choice to enable this filter. Moreover, it only makes sense while playing the kurosawa mode.
chromatic abberation really messes my eyes up. honestly with all the seizure warnings and whatnot, they should have a disable on every game that uses it.
"What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul"; what an arrogant, self-centered little s#*!
because not everyone wants to play the game the way you want to play d*mbass. Some want cinematic experience, get it? CINEMAtic. And some want full immersion. Not everyone is a 13 year old valorant nerd who just cares about button smash.
Insulting people who like film grain and vice versa... Well done all of you. On the other hand, I haven't noticed any film grain in my game. In fact, since I quite like the cinematic feel, I added some with ReShade. Personal preferences... go, figure.
Gotta be honest, don't think we need to get super heated, but I also think its gonna be a bit expected to catch flak for jerking off the 'value' of things like film grain, chromatic distortion, and probably the worst thing for how lazily they're used-vignettes, and honestly, maybe you should. I've been playing games for so long, and watching film-and I DONT get it. Film Grain's not really something that adds to visual fidelity (it takes away, in fact)-and every time I ever see chromatic abberation used, all it does... is harm the visuals. Its just blur. Vignettes can be used for a variety of things that make sense, though f*#@ the people who make vignettes this default, OVERbearing filter on the edge on the screen. Its an eye sore in the literal sense. And thats how they're used ALL THE TIME in games.
Yknow this was an accidental necro but I think I stand by my words.
I'm really not sure what was bothering me before but I enabled all of the effects and the game looks so much better. No more fuzziness even with AA on.
Hello, is there a way to also remove the red screen filter that appears when you are close to death in the game? it seems to also darken the screen a bit, i dont have problems with it, its just that the effect seems to reduce my framerate in half when it happens which sucks a lot. any help or maybe instructions are appreciated
+1, it also happens to me, it might be because im using the frame generation, but for some reason whenever that effect appears on screen its as if the frame generation is turned off, i really appreciate it if you can do that
Been using the mouse smoothing edit, works great for me...
Got a request, hoping its in the registry...any way to remove the character "fake" lights that backlight and make all NPCs/characters glow in the dark?
did you copy the others lol. JK but i just finally figured where the hell this registry crap is and found the effects under the game and it does show filmgrain. also it has it listed in with all the same exact setting that are in the games menu. idk why games dont just have all the options in the menu, it might be due to space maybe.

Will editing these reg entries only change the settings/ registry entries for ghost of tsushima or other games as well?

I understand without the light that it would make NPCs a lot harder to see, but I would still love to have the option.
