Hey! I absolutely agree with you that insane is hard (well, hard in a stupid way, not challenging hard) and experienced is too easy. I think health/damage is perfectly balanced on experiences, but the game just needs to send MORE enemies our way so that we cannot alpha strike them all and have to eat some shots to make tanking/healing required.
However, more enemies from e-holes won't do much as they are quite rare (in my experience). But as someone who can mod the game, could you possibly make some sort of mod which would add 50% more "trash" enemies to spawns and 30% more "pod leader" enemies? For instance, where the game would spawn 3 grenadiers, have it spawn 4. When it would spawn 6 drones, have it spawn 9., etc.
I think that would make playing on Experienced absolutely amazing, but I have no skills to make that happen :( Could you maybe do it?
Hey, thanks for the reply, I will look into it, I only found the table to adjust for hole and airdrop slots for now, and directly adding enemies may cause crashes or unexpected errors, so I try to play it safe for now. Alternatively, I can do a mod that spawns more disciples, but I don't think many people will download that as the game will be incredibly hard lol.
Oh, sorry, I didn't think about the fact you'd want to make mods that could potentially become popular. I was just thinking how to take Gears from a fun to AMAZINGLY AWESOME game, but for me that means it needs to be challenging in a meaningful way, unlike what they did with insane difficulty which basically limits severely what you can do (some builds and tactics will simply not work). Yes, that's certainly more challenging, but not in a fun way.
So, yea, mods that make games harder might not be as popular, but.... Man, I really hope someone figures is out and does it. Just give me more enemies on experienced difficulty and the game will be perfect. Now that I've planted the idea in your mind, perhaps that can be you :) We'll see.
Well, I mean, what's the point of going through all the effort if the mod is unpopular and nobody uses it right ? =) I can make a mod for you that will spawn more disciples, kantus and theron guards earlier on, that will definitely make the game much harder for you, I'll do it when I have time, it will take a while.
P.S: If I'm going to make this for you, I'm going to expect you to endorse the shiet out of all my mods right ? ;)
It's great that you added airdrops to this mod, I didn't look at it much before because e-holes are rare.
I agree that on my first playthrough Experienced seems a little too easy but Insane was definitely too punishing, mostly because you have essential hero units and if they die you instantly game over. It'd be nice to play through the game on a mode as punishing as insane but not immediately losing when the forced hero units die. I'll definitely be watching for more of your mods for my playthroughs :)
Thanks man, ya, I'll work on another spawn mod next, basically using my air drops and hole mod to spawn high tier enemies like 1 boomer, 2 disciples, 2 theron guards, 1 zealot, and 3 groups of these air drops will should keep your hands full lol.
